This week, the final paper on your organizational analysis is due. Revise the rough draft based on your instructor’s feedback and submit the final paper.

The final paper should be of 8 pages, APA format providing the following:

• Describe your selected organization or unit of interest. Include the following details:
  • A statement and an introduction regarding why this organization excels in team building and high-quality relationships
  • A description of what prompted the organization to focus on these variables, if known
  • The rationale for selecting the issue-its significance or importance in relation to team-building efforts and the success of the organization
• Summarize the processes or programs that make this organization successful.
• Describe the attributes that made those processes or programs effective.
• Explain how the programs might be translated to your present organization. If you do not currently work, refer to a previous employer or discuss with someone employed and glean how they feel the programs or processes could be applied to their organization or unit.
• Include all sources used in the reference list in APA format. You need to include at least five cited references.
• Include a reference to the scorecard developed and used.

Include references to substantiate the claim that the organization excels in quality relationships. The second-hand information must be correctly cited.

Thank you for agreeing to talk to me about the discussion we had the other day about assigning patient load. As I started to say in the meeting but got interrupted, it is that I really don’t like the new plan that we have. I like the old one better and I don’t understand why we need to change.

I think that they expressed one concern about visiting patients in Iron Ridge. And that is the key as they were with high crime rate. We all recognize this issue. I do understand, but the new patient assignment scheme is meant to match you with a patient who will most benefit from your specialty and not where you live geographically.

There are many patients in Iron Ridge who have diabetes that need your expertise. [BLANK_AUDIO]Well, I really do love my patients, and I don’t hold it against them that they live in a bad part of town. But frankly, I’m afraid. Every night when I watch the news, there’s somebody that’s been involved in a shooting or a carjacking.

I talked to my husband about it, and he said that if you insist I go over there, he wants me to quit because it’s not safe. [BLANK_AUDIO] I have an idea I would like to explore with you. What if we sent an escort to accompany you on your visit?

Would this help you feel safer in that neighborhood?Sure it would, but do you think that’s realistic? The last I heard, we didn’t have any money to give us nurses raises and bonuses. I mean, do we even have the budget for something like security? It’s realistic as long as I can justify the safety of our nurses.

“Culture has a powerful effect on an organization and is recognized by many as the “glue” that holds an organization together and allows it to adapt to changing environments” (Glickman, Bagget, Krubert, Peterson, & Schulman, 2007). An environment that embraces diversity and equality will help assure the standards of nursing to include cultural competency. It is important for leadership and teams to understand the practices and behaviors of other cultures. Lack of cultural competence can be a barrier to effective communication and this can flow down to patients and the families we take care of. Patients are more diverse with the increase of global travel. All levels of the nursing workforce should reflect the diversity of the population the institution serves (Coe, 2013).  “Effective nurse leaders realize that diverse groups are more likely to consider a variety of different viewpoints; therefore, they are more likely to develop better, more creative solutions to problems”

    My institution is located near one of the largest military installations in the United States. We see many patients of different cultures. I also live in Texas and we see a majority of patients that represent the Mexican culture. I would most definitely incorporate someone from the Mexican culture into my team. As a nurse leader I will need to understand the cultural differences among the staff. Having someone from the Mexican culture will help the team understand the language, health practices, beliefs and customs and this will allow for more effective communication with staff, patients and families. There are many dialects spoken in Mexico. They include Spanish, English and indigenous Indian language. Verbal communication is important and understanding that someone of Mexican cultural may stand close and use a loud voice is also important. Older adults do not maintain eye contact. Knowing that this culture may show up late to appointments, it is important to stress the reasons for being on time for health care appointments. Extended family tend to be a good resource for this population (Purnell, 2014).  This person will be able to help provide insight and education to staff. Having cultural diverse team and members will help the group learn and grow and provide safe, effective, quality care to our patients 

Your written assignment for this module should be a 1-2 page paper (not including title page and reference page) that describes the following:

• You are caring for a patient with c-diff as part of your workload assignment. Discuss what c-diff is and how it is transmitted (how you can get it)?
• What actions will you take as a nurse to protect yourself and the other patients on the unit when taking care of your patient?

You should include a minimum of 3 scholarly references. Include a title page, in-text citations, and a reference page in APA format.
