TOPIC: Benchmark – Integrating Health Care and Public Health Systems

When considering public health and health care systems and the services they provide, it is important to think about how these systems and services are integrated. Systems thinking tools are helpful to consider the various links, feedback loops, and decision points within a system to identify opportunities for improvement and increase efficiency.

For this assignment, select a low- or middle-income country of interest and assess its health system. In a 1,250-1,500 word paper, address the following:

1. Include an Introduction
2. Describe the major components of the health system.
3. Discuss core services the health system provides and who manages them(government, private sector, a mix of both, etc.).
4. Discuss who is responsible for paying for those services or who funds the provided services.
5. Apply a systems thinking tool, such as a causal diagram or process map, to identify opportunities for how gaps in public health services can be bridged through a strong health system.
6. Conclude by considering how the convergence of communicable and noncommunicable diseases can be addressed more effectively through an integrated health system in the selected country.

In order to formulate your evidence-based practice (EBP), you need to assess your organization. In this assignment, you will be responsible for setting the stage for EBP. This assignment is conducted in two parts: an organizational cultural and readiness assessment and the proposal/problem statement and literature review, which you completed in NUR-550.

Section A: Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment

It is essential to understand the culture of the organization in order to begin assessing its readiness for EBP implementation. Select an appropriate organizational culture survey tool and use this instrument to assess the organization’s readiness.

1. Develop an analysis of 250 words from the results of the survey, addressing your organization’s readiness level, possible project barriers and facilitators, and how to integrate clinical inquiry, providing strategies that strengthen the organization’s weaker areas.
2. Make sure to include the rationale for the survey category scores that were significantly high and low, incorporating details or examples. Explain how to integrate clinical inquiry into the organization.
3. Submit a summary of your results. The actual survey results do not need to be included.

Section B: Proposal/Problem Statement and Literature Review

In NUR-550, you developed a PICOT statement and literature review for a population quality initiative. In 500-750 words, include the following:

1. Refine your PICOT into a proposal or problem statement.
2. Provide a summary of the research you conducted to support your PICOT, including subjects, methods, key findings, and limitations.

General Guidelines:

You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

 

The Evidence synthesis paper will be a 10 page paper in APA format (excluding title page, references and appendix—abstract not needed) that will form the second section of your scholarly examination of the clinical problem from your Background & Significance paper. You may use portions of your Background & Significance paper as appropriate to your topic. Remember to keep your PICOT in mind when developing this paper. This paper will help set the foundation for your clinical project and provide ample evidence to the nature and urgency of the need to address your chosen PICOT problem. You must Include an APPENDIX with strict APA guidelines with a Matrix table of relevant research articles (10 articles total in the matrix table; you may use 5 relevant references from your Background and significance paper).

Kimberly Morris    3 posts   Re: Topic 7 DQ 2  One of the keys to making a successful change and to assess its effectiveness is to collaborate with your partners to see what is most meaningful to you and the stakeholders (Prosci, n.d.)The evidence-based practice project I chose was to see if early education would an effect on the neuro and behavioral development of children. This seems to be a rather lengthy project which may actually take years to see if there is any relevant change. One thing I can do is to see the number of families who are willing to receive the information regarding lead and its negative effects. By knowing how many families within a higher risk area are being given the necessary information to make educated choices regarding lead, this will allow me to know at least how many families I am working with. This would give me a base number and then I could further study the children within the first five years of their life to know if they have been tested for lead, have tested above the suggested limit, and if they are having any neuro or behavioral problems. This would then allow me to get a percentage to see if there have been any significant changes within the high-risk community.
