Purpose

This week’s graded discussion topic relates to the following Course Outcome (CO).

• CO 1: Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of high-quality nursing care, healthcare team management, and the oversight and accountability for care delivery in a variety of settings. (PO 2)

Discussion

Healthcare reform is a term that is ever present in our practice settings and will not disappear any time soon.

Review the article below and answer the following questions.

1. Select one of the four challenges and expand on how your workforce has responded to the change.
2. How have these challenges affected the access to care for your patients?
3. What can you do to decrease the effect on your patients? Provide a specific example.

 

Case study, download and read the attached case study.  Once completed, answer the three questions at the end of the case.

Your paper should be in APA 6th edition format and should answer all three questions completely with rationale and literature support.  Each new heading will depict the question being answered.  Your paper should be within 4-6 pages, not including your cover page and references page.  You will  be required to provide and use a minimum of 3 peer reviewed references, with the oldest being from 2015.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Literature Review

A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Question Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 900 words review that includes the following sections:

1. Title page

2. Introduction section

3. A comparison of research questions

4. A comparison of sample populations

5. A comparison of the limitations of the study

6. A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

ASSIGNMENT 2

Capstone Change   Project Resources 

Assess the organization for required resources needed for the strategic plan if the change proposal were to be implemented. Review your strategic plan and determine what resources would be needed if the change proposal were to be implemented. Write a list of at least FOUR resources you will need in order to implement your change proposal.

The assignment will be used to develop a written implementation plan.

ASSIGNMENT 3

Professional Capstone and Practicum Reflective Journal

This reflection journal also allows students to outline what they have discovered about their professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses, and additional resources that could be introduced in a given situation to influence optimal outcomes. Each week students should also explain how they met a course competency or course objective(s). In 150 of each topic, students should reflect on the personal knowledge and skills gained throughout the course.  of the areas stated below.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and IN-TEXT  CITATION and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

(1) Maintain a food diary for three days using MyFitnessPal, or a similar diet app. A list of common diet apps can be downloaded in the  Worksheets, Forms, and Templates area at left.

(2) Write a nutritional self-assessment paper. In your paper, you will analyze your eating habits, food patterns, and nutrition intake.    

 Maintaining your diary:You will use the MyFitnessPal food diary app to record everything that goes into your digestive system over the course of three days. Record everything you eat and drink, and record the name and dosage of any medications that you take, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.It is preferable to record your food intake for at least one non-school day or one non-weekday (for example, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). This way, you will see how your eating habits change with your schedule.It is important that you take time each day to record your food, drink, and drug intake rather than relying on your memory. An honest, detailed diary will help you gain a better understanding of yourself personally and professionally.  Take screenshots of your MyFitnessPal food diary to include in your analysis paper. At the end of the three days, print the final report in MyFitnessPal to include with your written paper.

• Your paper should be a minimum of 4 pages in length 
• Attach a copy of your final report from MyFitnessPal along with your completed nutrient spreadsheet with your paper.
• Use APA and include a title and reference page.

 

The Assignment

In a 5- to 10-slide PowerPoint presentation, address the following:

Provide an overview of the article you selected.

What population is under consideration?

What was the specific intervention that was used? Is this a new intervention or one that was already used?

What were the author’s claims?

Explain the findings/outcomes of the study in the article. Include whether this will translate into practice with your own clients. If so, how? If not, why?

Explain whether the limitations of the study might impact your ability to use the findings/outcomes presented in the article. Support your position with evidence-based literature.

Note: The presentation should be 5–10 slides, not including the title and reference slides. Include presenter notes (no more than ½ page per slide) and use tables and/or diagrams where appropriate. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from the article you selected. Support your approach with evidence-based literature with at least three to five references no more five years old.
