Critical Thinking: Case Study – Cost Containment 

Choose a current event pertaining to an effort to contain costs or review this case study:

Write a four- to six-page report evaluating the case and providing your recommendations for this case. Your report should address the following substantive requirements:

• Description      of what occurred, who was affected, and rationale
• Assessment      of the case from the following perspectives:
  • Health reform – illustrate how this case and your role       as administrator are different now due to changes in health law and       expectations from health reform.
  • How cost containment plays a factor in your decision.
• Recommendations      for implementation of procedures or partnerships to continue containing      costs and increasing efficiency.

Your well-written report should meet the following structural requirements:

3. Identify tools that are useful in implementing quality improvement projects. Which of the tools are most useful when developing and implementing projects?

Impact of Health

In a two to three page paper, examine the impact health has on the population as a whole. Address the benefits of a healthy population as well as the costs of an unhealthy population. Be sure to also include a discussion as to if the development of our current healthcare system over time has increased population health or has had no effect. Lastly, research another country’s healthcare system. How does it compare to the system currently place in the United States? Is the population healthier as a result of their system?

For each question below, write a minimum of 75 words EACH. Be sure to cite sources for EACH of the following questions and separate the four paragraphs.

· A vulnerable population, as listed in your readings, is minorities. Identify the reasons why this particular group has a difficult time accessing health services in the United States. What is currently being done to address these access concerns? What else needs to be done?

· Explain why it is so important to safeguard a patient’s health information. What are some of the consequences that could happen to both the patient and the organization if health information is breached?

· Discuss the various components of long-term care services in the United States. Specifically, what are the differences between retirement centers, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities. What other options might be available to support the elder or the person needing extensive assistance in the community?

· Discuss the impact globalization has on healthcare in the United States. What measures will need to be taken to ensure the health of Americans now and in the near future?

Some healthcare organizations post their quality plan on the web, search the internet for quality plans from two different types of healthcare organizations (e.g., hospital, health plan, long-term care facility, ambulatory clinic). You may need to use search terms other than quality management plan, such as performance improvement plan, quality plan, or patient safety plan.

• 1-Write the similarities and differences between the two plans.
• 2-Page length should be 3 pages. Use 12-Point Times New Roman font. 
• APA style is required, use (minimum 2) external resources to support the study.
