Ethical Issues In Research

There are many ethical challenges that have specific implications for nursing research. These arise primarily from the emergent and unpredictable nature of the research methods and the nature of the profession. Ethical challenges such as risk-benefit ratio which involves weighing both the benefits and the potential harm must be anticipated by the researcher before any contact with the potential subject.

Instructions:

1. You are planning to conduct interviews about the experiences of women who were the victim of domestic violence. Complete the activities and answer the following questions:
   1. List and discuss in detail the ethical issues that are involved in the early stages of doing a research or evaluation study with these subjects or participants.
   2. is informed consent necessary in this case?  Why or why not?
   3. What steps will you take to minimize the potential risks?  What possible sources of physical and mental harm to the participants be minimized?
   4. How would you protect this specific subject from harm?
   5. What information will you provide to the participants to ensure informed and voluntary consent?
   6. Do the benefits of the study outweigh the risks?

Developing a Care Plan

There are two parts to the comprehensive nursing care plan assignment. In Week 5 you are required to submit a draft of your care plan. In Week 6 you will submit your final nursing care plan based on feedback from your instructor and your continued work.

In a Microsoft Word document of 4-5 pages formatted in APA style, begin to develop a comprehensive care plan for the aggregate based on the health risks faced by the aggregate that you identified in the risk assessment. 

In your paper, address the following:

• Propose two (2) priority-nursing diagnoses based on the major health risks identified during the risk assessment for the aggregate
  • Include strategies to address the nursing diagnoses and identified risks of aggregate.
  • Support your strategies with at least two journal articles.
• Develop a disaster management plan with the following components:
  • List of disasters that might affect your aggregate (take into consideration the geographical location of the aggregate, past history, etc.).
  • Strategies for handling at least two disasters from the list.
  • Recommendations for a disaster supplies kit.

On a separate references page, cite all sources using APA format. Please note that the title and reference pages should not be included in the total page count of your paper.

You are both architect and builder of your success. You have started to blueprint your vision in your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan. You have identified others with whom you will collaborate. Now you can begin to prepare the appropriate strategies, tools, and materials

How will you approach your studies? What types of resources are available to you, and how will you access and utilize them? Taking the opportunity to prepare these strategies, tools, and materials will help ensure you can “break ground” without incident and successfully move to the phase where you begin building your vision.

The Assignment:

In this Assignment, you will continue developing your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan by appending the original document you began in the previous Assignment to develop the second component—academic resources and strategies. To accomplish this:

• Identify and describe at least three academic resources or strategies that can be applied to the MSN program
• Identify and describe at least three professional resources that can be applied to success in the nursing practice in general or your specialty in particular
• Explain how you intend to use these resources, and how they might benefit you academically and professionally.

In collaboration with the approved course preceptor, students will identify a specific evidence-based topic for the capstone project change proposal. Students should consider the clinical environment in which they are currently employed or have recently worked. The capstone project topic can be a clinical practice problem, an organizational issue, a leadership or quality improvement initiative, or an unmet educational need specific to a patient population or community. The student may also choose to work with an interprofessional collaborative team.

Students should select a topic that aligns to their area of interest as well as the clinical practice setting in which practice hours are completed.

Write a 500-750 word description of your proposed capstone project topic. Include the following:

1. The problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project that will be the focus of the change proposal.
2. The setting or context in which the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project can be observed.
3. A description (providing a high level of detail) regarding the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project.
4. Effect of the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project.
5. Significance of the topic and its implications for nursing practice.
6. A proposed solution to the identified project topic with an explanation of how it will affect nursing practice.

You are required to cite to a minimum of eight peer-reviewed sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years, appropriate for the assignment criteria, and relevant to nursing practice. Plan your time accordingly to complete this assignment.
