Throughout your education, you have been asked to research topics and write papers, engage in thought-provoking discussions, consider diverse perspectives, and a host of other challenges that have required you to use both your discipline-specific skills as well as your soft skills. These are called transferable skills, and are skills that you develop that can be transferred and applied within your chosen career. Transferable skills are highly valuable and essential for career success.

Throughout this course, you have been working on a project that allowed you to demonstrate your understanding of the transferable skills. It is now time to submit your project/assignment and add a transferable skills reflection.

To complete this assignment, you will need to do the following:

Part I: Compiling Your Exemplar Project

• Compile all of your completed course project assignment deliverables. Place them in the proper order, and save them in a single Microsoft Word document.

Part II: Transferable Skills Self Reflection

1. In a minimum of 1 full page, using Microsoft Word, write an essay (full introduction and conclusion), which includes the following:
   • Describe the knowledge, skills and/or attitudes regarding each of the transferable skills that you’ve gained as a result of completing this particular project/assignment.
   • Discuss the ways that you are going to incorporate the transferable skills (the transferable skills that you showcased in your exemplary project) into your work within your chosen career field.
   • Describe your future goals based on the transferable skills that you’ve chosen to showcase.
   • Write your paper utilizing proper tone, spelling and grammar.
2. Once you have completed your reflection assignment, add it to the end of the document you compiled in part I. The self-reflection should be the last few pages of your exemplar project. If done correctly, everything will be one document!
3. Save the compiled document to a folder. Then, zip or compress the folder, and submit the zipped folder to the drop box.

 

Ego Integrity Presentation

Based  on what you have learned so far in this course, create a PowerPoint  presentation that addresses each of the following points/questions. Be  sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Use  clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are  addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with  at least two (2) sources throughout your presentation. Make sure to  reference the citations using the APA writing style for the  presentation. Include a slide for your references at the end. Follow  best practices for PowerPoint presentations related to text size, color,  images, effects, wordiness, and multimedia enhancements. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

• Imagine  you are working as a charge nurse in an assisted living facility. Your  unit houses twenty older adults. The residents of this unit are  cognitively functional without evidence of cognitive decline. The  residents are elderly and do require varying degrees of physical  assistance with ADLs. Create a PowerPoint outlining: 
  • Strategies  to incorporate in the assisted living facility to promote ego integrity  for the residents for group and individual activities to incorporate.

Your quest to purchase a new car begins with an identification of the factors important to you. As you conduct a search of cars that rate high on those factors, you collect evidence and try to understand the extent of that evidence. A report that suggests a certain make and model of automobile has high mileage is encouraging. But who produced that report? How valid is it? How was the data collected, and what was the sample size?

In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question. You also begin to analyze the evidence you have collected.

To Prepare:

• Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
• Develop a PICO(T) question to address the clinical issue of interest you identified in Module 2 for the Assignment. This PICOT question will remain the same for the entire course.
• Use the key words from the PICO(T) question you developed and search at least four different databases in the Walden Library. Identify at least four relevant systematic reviews or other filtered high-level evidence, which includes meta-analyses, critically-appraised topics (evidence syntheses), critically-appraised individual articles (article synopses). The evidence will not necessarily address all the elements of your PICO(T) question, so select the most important concepts to search and find the best evidence available.
• Reflect on the process of creating a PICO(T) question and searching for peer-reviewed research.

Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews

Create a 6- to 7-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:

• Identify and briefly describe your chosen clinical issue of interest.
• Describe how you developed a PICO(T) question focused on your chosen clinical issue of interest.
• Identify the four research databases that you used to conduct your search for the peer-reviewed articles you selected.
• Provide APA citations of the four relevant peer-reviewed articles at the systematic-reviews level related to your research question. If there are no systematic review level articles or meta-analysis on your topic, then use the highest level of evidence peer reviewed article.
• Describe the levels of evidence in each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, including an explanation of the strengths of using systematic reviews for clinical research. Be specific and provide examples.

Read the following case study and answer 1 of the questions that follow:

TS is 67 years old with a long history of knee osteoarthritis for which he self-medicates regularly with over-the-counter (OTC) naproxen. He is in the clinic today complaining of a swallowing difficulty that has progressively worsened over the past several months. He has otherwise been healthy and has not seen a doctor in many years.

TS denies significant past medical history. A review of systems is negative except for arthritic symptoms and swallowing difficulty. He denies noticing blood in his stool and vomiting blood. He denies history of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and ulcer.

He does not drink alcohol, although he drank heavily many years ago. He does not smoke. TS describes the dysphagia this way: “Food gets stuck in my throat, and I can’t get it down.” The feeling occurs only after he has ingested solid food; liquids are not a problem. There is burning chest pain associated with meals.

He is scheduled for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Her employer-based insurance provider’s website allows her to use her HSA account to make a payment online. She uses her HSA debit card to make the payment, but her insurance provider sends her a check instead of sending it to the Tri-City HealthCare Agency. After contacting her insurance help desk via the website, she is told to send the check to Tri-City HealthCare Agency herself. The patient asks the insurance provider’s help desk representative why they cannot just make the payments for her. She is told about the various payment types and payers in the health care industry and how the market influences the integrated delivery systems in the industry.

Case Questions

1. Describe the payer systems mentioned in the case study.
2. Explain how the market forces have influenced the need for integrated delivery systems.
3. How might the insurance provider explain the payment system it utilizes for its clients? Explain if this method is effective or not for the insurance provider’s clients.
4. What has been the most significant legal and regulatory effect on managed care organizations?
5. How would this case study have differed if the patient was using public or social insurance?
