Quantitative Annotated Bibliography 2025

Quantitative Annotated Bibliography In this week’s discussion question you were asked to consider a potential problem (appropriate to your role option) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. For this assignment you will review current research from South’s Online Library and provide a critical evaluation on that research through an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a brief summary and analysis of the journal article reviewed. For more information on annotated bibliographies please visit Purdue’s OWL: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/614/01/ A total of four annotated bibliographies are to be submitted (not to exceed one page each). The articles must come from nursing scholarly literature and may not be older than 5 years since publication. Please note that the articles must be research based and reflect a quantitative methodology (review our reading assignments). Web pages, magazines, textbooks, and other books are not acceptable. Each annotation must address the following critical elements: Explanation of the main purpose and scope of the cited work Brief description of the research conducted Value and significance of the work (e.g., study’s findings, scope of the research project) as a contribution to the subject under consideration Possible shortcomings or bias in the work Conclusions or observations reached by the author Summary as to why this research lends evidence to support the potential problem identified specific to your role option. . Assignment 3 Grading Criteria Maximum Points Articles selected are appropriate to role option and support the potential problem identified. 20 Addresses required elements for each of the 4 nursing research articles that provide supportive evidence for the problem. 40 Articles selected meet guidelines (quantitative methodology, nursing scholarly literature, no older than 5 years since publication). 30 Followed APA guidelines for writing style, format, spelling, and grammar. 10 Total: 100

2025 Workflow Redesign After conducting a thorough gap analysis the next step in

Workflow Redesign 2025

Workflow Redesign After conducting a thorough gap analysis, the next step in the systems development life cycle (SDLC) is to target potential solutions to the gaps. There may be many potential solutions that can help to address workflow issues and inefficiencies, or there may be one seemingly obvious solution that could address almost all of the gaps in the current-state workflow. The challenge lies in selecting the most appropriate course of action from potential solutions that also works within organizational constraints. In this Discussion, you revisit the scenarios from the Week 3 Discussion. You determine the possible avenues for workflow redesign and consider the constraints and factors that might impact your decision. Scenario 1: Stephanie is a nurse practitioner at Central Care Hospital who is often involved in administering prescribed medications for patients in the general care ward. When a physician sees a patient, he or she uses the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) to document findings and recommendations for treatment but submits medication and drug orders by faxing prescriptions to the hospital’s pharmacy. Before Stephanie administers the medications from the pharmacy, she must cross-check the medication and dosage with the physician’s notes and patient information in the EHR. In doing so, Stephanie often identifies problems with the medication the physician prescribed; patients are sometimes prescribed a medication to which they have a known allergy or one that conflicts with another medication they are currently taking. In addition, the pharmacy sometimes sends the wrong medication or the wrong dosage. Furthermore, for patients who have been transferred from other parts of the hospital, such as the intensive care unit or the maternity ward, Stephanie often encounters duplicate drug orders or incorrect medications sent from the pharmacy. Scenario 2: General Health Hospital is implementing new outreach programs and preventative care support groups for patients with certain conditions or health risks, such as diabetes, smoking, and obesity. Philip, a nurse leader, is the manager of a team of nurses to organize these programs and groups and to identify patients who would be eligible and interested in being involved in these opportunities. However, Philip and his team have run into a variety of challenges and problems as they attempt to complete these tasks. In identifying patients to contact about the outreach programs and support groups, Philip’s team has had to browse the hospital’s entire electronic health record (EHR). The team has also run across significant holes in the EHR as they try to contact patients; many patients’ contact information is inaccurate or out of date. Furthermore, Philip’s team has partnered with the hospital’s Appointments Desk personnel in sending reminders about meeting dates and times to patients who express interest. However, the Appointments Desk often either neglects to send out these reminders or sends duplicate reminders to only a few patients because the personnel does not have a way of tracking who should be contacted and when. Scenario 3: Robert works in the medical records office at Garden View Hospital. Because the hospital does not have a policy of providing clinical summaries to patients after each visit, Robert frequently receives calls from patients requesting copies of their health information (such as test results, vital statistics, diagnostic information, and medication lists and dosages). For every request, Robert must retrieve the patient information from the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR), print out hard copies of the records, and then either mail the records or wait for the patient to retrieve them in person. Additionally, Robert’s hospital often receives lab test results for patients from certified third-party providers. These results are not automatically transferred from the provider’s EHR to the hospital’s EHR, so Robert often must contact the providers before responding to a patient’s request. Robert also finds that he and his colleagues in the office spend a considerable amount of time printing, mailing, and faxing immunization records to patients’ workplaces, schools, and volunteer organizations, which can be disruptive to the office’s other responsibilities. To prepare Review this week’s Learning Resources on workflow redesign. Then select one of the scenarios listed above to consider for this Discussion. Note: You may choose to examine the same scenario you were assigned for the Week 3 Discussion, or you may select a different scenario. Identify one specific workflow issue (gap) in the scenario you selected. Formulate at least two distinct solutions for this workflow issue. Of the two solutions you developed, which would you recommend for redesigning the current-state workflow in the scenario you selected? Why? Reflect on the solution you would recommend. What two organizational constraints (budget, time, resources, personnel, IT expertise, resistance to change, lack of leadership, stakeholder buy-in, etc.) would most significantly impact the implementation of the solution? How would they impact the solution? Post by tomorrow 10/11/16 a minimum of 550 words essay in APA format and at least 3 references, which addresses the level one headings as numbered below: 1) The scenario you selected and a description of the two solutions you developed for this workflow issue. 2) Identify the solution you would recommend, and explain how this solution would address the workflow issue. 3) Identify two organizational constraints that might impact the workflow redesign and explain their impact. 2025 Individual Project Part 2 Scope Budget Risk Management and Team Building Part 2

Scope, Budget, Risk Management, and Team Building 2025

Individual Project Part 2: Scope, Budget, Risk Management, and Team Building Part 2 of the Individual Project focuses on the scope of a project, budgeting issues, risk management, and team building. If conducting an interview, the interviewee may be from the same organization as your last interview and should have managed a project for the organization. Alternatively, you may examine a minimum of three organizations that have published descriptions about a health care information technology project’s scope, budget, risk management, and team building activities. Interview To prepare: Review the Individual Project Overview document, located in this week’s Learning Resources. Pay particular attention to the questions you might ask in your interview. Locate a professional who manages or works on special projects in health care and is willing to speak about his or her experience regarding scope of a project, budget, risk management, and team building. If such a person is not readily available to you, find someone in your community who has managed a project for an organization and can speak to those topics. The organization can be a volunteer service group, a faith-based group, a business, or another that meets your needs. The goal is to find an individual who has been in charge of a project important to the organization. Review the topics and questions in the Individual Project Overview document that should be addressed in your interview. Think about other related questions you might have for the interviewee and solidify your goals for speaking to and learning from this person. Topics and Questions: Remember that you will need to adapt your questions to the individual, setting, and projects. You are not required to ask these specific questions, but you are required to address the topics listed below (Note: If the interviewee cannot address a topic, conduct a literature search to find scholarly information or research on that topic). Scope  How does a project manager limit the scope of a project?  How do you deal with stress, pressure, and unreasonable demands? Budget  How are costs managed during a project?  If all resources are not available to a project when needed, how do you handle resource problems? Risk Management  How are potential risks to the project determined?  How are these risks mitigated?  Think of a major crisis you’ve faced in project management. How did you handle it?  What is one example of a tough decision you had to make in a project management role? Team Building  How do you obtain the members of a project team? How do you “sell” the project to a team?  Explain how you operate within this organization to facilitate project success.  Can you give me an example of your project management leadership activities regarding a project team problem?  If you have a team member who is not meeting agreed-to commitments, what do you do? How do you handle unproductive team members? How do you motivate team members who are burned out or bored? Additional questions and insights are encouraged. To complete: In a 3- to 4-page paper, reflect on your experience and address the following: Describe the context of your interview—where and how the interview took place, why you selected this individual, and how you believe this individual meets the requirements for this Assignment. Describe the role and functions of the individual within the context of the individual’s organizational structure and for project management. Synthesize insights on how project scope, budget, risk management, and team building are addressed in the interviewee’s organization. Compare the insights you synthesized from your interview with information from project management literature about project scope, budget, risk management, and team building. Be sure that the comparisons you make are clear to the reader. Explain how your insights into these aspects of project management will impact your ability to successfully manage health care information technology projects. Include any tips the individual described for managing a successful project. OR Scholarly Paper To prepare: Examine a minimum of three organizations that have published descriptions about a health care information technology project.  Analyze the reports of these organization’s experiences with HIT project management in order to draw out insights on real-world project management. You may need to examine trade publications in addition to scholarly journals.  Consider the following questions as you analyze the articles: Scope o How was the scope of the project limited? o How did the project manager address any unreasonable demands? Budget o How were costs managed during the project? o How were resource allocation problems addressed? Risk Management o How were potential risks to the project determined? o How were these risks mitigated? o Explain any major crisis faced in the management of a project implementation and explain how it was handled. Team Building o How were members of the project team selected? How did the project manager “sell” the project to a team? o How did the team operate within the organization to facilitate project success? o What project management leadership activities were utilized to mitigate project team problems? o What strategies did project management leaders use if a team member was not meeting agreed-to commitments, was unproductive, or was unmotivated? To complete: In a 3- to 4-page paper, address the following: Synthesize insights on how project scope, budget, risk management, and team building are addressed in the projects implemented in your selected health care organizations. Compare your insights from the articles with information from project management literature about project scope, budget, risk management, and team building. Be sure that the comparisons you make are clear to the reader. 2025 Discussion Understanding Workflow Design As you explored last week the implementation of a new

updated- Understanding Design Flow 2025

Discussion: Understanding Workflow Design As you explored last week, the implementation of a new technology can dramatically affect the workflow of an organization. Newly implemented technologies can initially limit the productivity of users as they adjust to their new tools. Such implementations tend to be so significant that they often require workflows to be redesigned in order to achieve improvements in safety and patient outcomes. However, before workflows can be redesigned, they must first be analyzed. This analysis includes each step in completing a certain process. Some systems duplicate efforts or contain unnecessary steps that waste time and money and could even jeopardize patient health care. By reviewing and modifying the workflow, you enable greater productivity. This drive to implement new technologies has elevated the demand for nurses who can perform workflow analysis. In this Discussion you explore resources that have been designed to help guide you through the process of workflow assessment. To prepare: Take a few minutes and peruse the information found in the article “Workflow Assessment for Health IT Toolkit” listed in this week’s Learning Resources. As you check out the information located on the different tabs, identify key concepts that you could use to improve a workflow in your own organization and consider how you could use them. Go the Research tab and identify and read one article that is of interest to you and relates to your specialty area ***** For this week you should provide a summary of three different tools you found in “ Workflow Assessment for Health IT Toolkit” that would help in redesigning a workflow in the organization in which you work (or one with which you are familiar) and describe how you would apply them. Here is the link to the AHRQ’s Workflow Assessment for Health IT Toolkit http :// healthit . ahrq .gov/health-it-tools-and-resources/ workflow -assessment-health-it-toolkit and a link to the specific tools https :// healthit . ahrq .gov/health-it-tools-and-resources/ workflow -assessment-health-it-toolkit/all- workflow -tools Then you would select an article in the Research tab related to your topic, summarize the article you selected, and assess how you could use the information to improve workflow within your organization. Finally, you will evaluate the importance of monitoring the effect of technology on workflow . On the AHRQ site, on the left hand navigation bar you will see a link to Research, here is the direct link http :// healthit . ahrq .gov/health-it-tools-and-resources/ workflow -assessment-health-it-toolkit/research References McGonigle, D., & Mastrian, K.
