Objectives:
1. Define 3 types of leadership models (see page 463 in your text book or you may venture out and use other leadership models as well).
2. Assess the difference between a leader and a manager.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the 3 leadership models, efficiency, lack of efficiency, and why or why not.
4. Discuss personal experiences outside of the course by sharing new perspectives and incorporating your own thoughts and ideas backed up by evidence from peer reviewed journal articles.

*Please note that leadership models and theories are two different things. Please use leadership models only.  

Many of us have had experience with different types of leadership in our nursing practice.  Who made the most positive influence in your job? Who made the least influence? Which leadership style do you find most efficient?  Take your ideas and thoughts and back them up with some evidence based practice to formulate your final project. 
 

Final Project Instructions:
Your assignment is to write a paper on the objectives noted above (# 1-4).
 

A) Use as many peer reviewed sources as you would like in order to make your document strong.  Please note that all resources must be peer reviewed or points will be deducted.

1) Define CAM.

CAM stands for complementary and alternative medicine.  CAM consists of many different therapies and treatments that are used to prevent and treat illness and disease. These methods are not typically taught in Medical school or practiced by Western medical doctors.  Various practices use natural methods or substances to promote the body to heal or stay in harmony. The mind body and spirit of a person are brought into the equation of healing. (Falvo, pp.210-211, 2004)

Critical thinking/examples: 

For example, Chiropractic, homeopathy, naturopathy, yoga, meditation and energy fields are some of the therapies used in CAM. I had a patient with diabetes and used to also get nutritional work completed by a Chiropractor that helped to control his blood sugar.

 Academic Service Learning Reflections

The purpose of the reflection paper is to share the connection between the service experience and the teaching/learning objective. The goals of service learning are to:

 1) enhance classroom learning

2) meet community needs

 3) foster civic responsibility/civic engagement.

Paper

1. Submit a 2-3 page paper on your two selected course objectives (my two selected course objectives are: 1.7 applies goal-directed processes involved in the transmission and assimilation of information…  and 3.4 Analyze and implement patient health and safety goals…)
2. The highest potential points for your Service Learning Reflection are 10-points. See sample reflection paper attached and ASL Grading Rubric for details.
3. The paper should follow APA format in reference to the use of headings, font, spacing, references, etc. Paper must be plagiarism free.

The service learning experience was provided virtually via zoom meeting in the morning February 10th. The audience is nursing students that who are about to graduate with an ASN degree and enter the nursing field. The topic involved the two course objectives listed above 1.7 and 3.4 in regards to protecting yourself from Covid-19. The Academic service learning reflection is NOT about Covid-19 so please do not make the paper focusing on this solely, it is NOT the main idea. The main idea is listed above where it says:

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze how an organization’s quality and improvement processes contribute to its risk management program.

This assignment builds on the Risk Management Program Analysis – Part One assignment you completed in Topic 1 of this course.

Assume that the sample risk management program you analyzed in Topic 1 was implemented and is now currently in use by your health care employer/organization. Further assume that your supervisor has asked you to create a high‐level summary brief of this new risk management program to share with a group of administrative personnel from a newly created community health organization in your state who has enlisted your organization’s assistance in developing their own risk management policies and procedures.

Compose a 1,250‐1,500 word summary brief that expands upon the elements you first addressed in the Topic 1 assignment. In this summary brief, address the following points regarding your health care organization and its risk management program:

1. Explain the role of your organization’s MIPPA-approved accreditation body (e.g., JC, ACR, IAC) in the evaluation of your institution’s quality improvement and risk management processes.
