• Choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint) to document your assignment in the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format rather than the traditional narrative style. • Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. Formulate a differential diagnosis of three to five possible conditions for the skin graphic that you chose. Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis and explain your reasoning using at least three different references, one reference from current evidence-based literature from your search and two different references from this week’s Learning Resources.

You have two very ill patients this week, and each of them presents a very complicated case. First, you have a patient with an ongoing problem that has resisted diagnosis. He was enroute to an evaluation with a neurologist, but on the way to the hospital suddenly fell into a coma (a state of involuntary unconsciousness due to illness or injury) and had to be brought in to your medical facility by ambulance.

You will use at least 10 medical terms to describe this patient, and to refer to the original underlying problem the patient had in the first place. Use the nervous system medical word elements chart and the medical, surgical, and diagnostic terms chart on from your textbook to get you started on the medical terms you will need. You can include specific drugs used in neurological disease as you list at least 3 tests and procedures used. 

Your second patient this week is also quite ill and is presenting a number of problems. This patient is diabetic, and also has another Endocrine System disorder (of your choice). Consult the endocrine medical word elements chart as you develop medical terms—include at least 10 that would be appropriate in this case. You should consult  medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures in your textbook as you select at least 3 tests and procedures for this patient. .

Living in the United States is seen as a privilege.  There are multiple countries that do not have access to the majority of things that we do here in America.  However, the United States is one of the few countries that have not industrialized the health care system.  The proper role of the government should be to provide everyone with quality health care.  Health care is one of the things in America that should not be seen as a privilege.  It should be seen as a right.  The biggest issue that I see currently is the economic concerns within the the country.  There is a constant battle between each political party on the price tag of the health care system.  However, Bernie Sanders came up with an incredible plan to ensure that all Americans have health care.  Medicare for All would be the plan that could insure ever American within adequate health care.  There are millions of dollars spent each year on health care.  Twenty-nine million Americans do not have health insurance and millions more are under-insured and cannot afford the high co-payments and deductibles (2018).  The U.S. spends approximately three trillion dollars on health care each year.  By reforming the health care systems and ensuring that patients are actually getting high quality health care, Bernie’s plan has been estimated to save the county over six trillion dollars within the next decade (2018).   

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was a critically important step towards the goal of universal health care.  With the ACA, more than seventeen million Americans have gained health insurance (2018).  Having better and more affordable access to health insurance could ultimately improve the overall health of Americans.  There are millions of people that do not have insurance that desperately need it in order to have a better quality of life.  By taking the economic burden off of the citizens, each individual could live healthier and happier lives.  By introducing Medicare for All, millions of people will no longer have to chose between health care and basic necessities like food, shelter, and services that have been out of reach (2018).   That peace of mind could do wonders for the economy and health status of citizens of America.

It looks like so far most of us work within an open system and practice complex adaptive system thinking.  Thinking in terms of the current healthcare crisis throughout the world do you think that there are any benefits to being a closed facility or would an open facility that adopts a complex adaptive system be more effective?  Which would be most beneficial for patients as well as staff dealing with daily changes in process/procedures?  Summarize all learned in this week.
