Week 7: Virtue Ethics 2025

Required Resources Read/review the following resources for this activity: Textbook: Chapter 12 (please) Lesson Minimum of 1 scholarly source (in addition to the textbook) Introduction Each person owes a duty to himself or herself and to the world to study ethics and to engage in thoughtful debate about what is right, and what is wrong. It is this habit of thinking about and reflecting on ethics that will help you determine the right choices when faced with an ethical dilemma. Initial Post Instructions Articulate a moral dilemma wherein one has to show a specific virtue or virtues (it can be any virtue or virtues including honesty, courage, charity/generosity, compassion, etc.) What is the moral dilemma about? What virtue or virtues should be shown? (You are here selecting the best course of action) Why is that virtue or those virtues to be shown? How should the virtue or virtues be expressed, and why in that manner? Apply Aristotle’s golden mean to the dilemma. Tell us how the dilemma involves conflict moral duties (loyalty to community versus to self, professional versus familial duties, national or personal obligations). The dilemma must be a situation in which a choice has to be made. Be sure you told us why your chosen course of action was best.

CP Week 8 Discussion 2025

This week you will be working on an evaluation plan that will be attached to your EBP in Week 9. Remember, you are working through this process–you have a question, you found evidence for support in putting this into practice–you implemented a plan to put this into practice now you are evaluating how it worked in your practice! Submit your Evaluation Plan to the DB –listed as 1-2-3… (Remember you are evaluating the change to your practice not the PICOT) We used a PICOT question to assist us in our search for evidence–thus making you think there is research involved in your project. In truth, I can understand the confusion–but the purpose of the PICOT is to assist in your search for support in implementing the change. Once you have the support then you are evaluating the change not the question.

CP – Week 7 Discussion 2025

This week you will be creating an Implementation Plan that will be attached to your final Evidence-Based Project. In the article read last week, “EBP Step by Step Following the evidence: Planning for sustainable change” an Implementation Plan is provided for an example. In your text (4th ed) the ‘ARCC Model Timeline for an EBP Implementation Project” (Appendix I) template is available for guidance. The thought process includes: Based on my review of literatures comparing the DASH diet and the low/restricted sodium diet, the DASH diet significantly reduced the blood pressure of the hypertensive patients in the studies. The effect was additive when both diets where combined. These studies established evidence that the DASH diet in addition to pharmacotherapy is effective in reducing the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. My objective now is to introduce this diet method (DASH diet) to all the hypertensive patients that will be seen in my place of practice. My implementation plan will involve the identification of the other stakeholders/beneficiaries of this new method or approach to management of hypertensive patients. The other stakeholders mentioned in my implementation plan were the healthcare providers (ARNPs and physicians), the insurance companies, and the owner or employer of these healthcare providers. I intend to implement my EBP through discussion groups. These identified stakeholders will be invited to a group discussion so that barriers will be identified, and solutions will be worked out during these group discussions. For the discussion board this week—outline your implementation plan–the early steps have been complete–the checkpoints noted in the template should guide your plan.
