Discussion Prompt 1 COLLAPSE Review the following case study and discuss the questions that follow. EO is an 8-year-old girl with a history of asthma and allergy to bee stings. She has been brought to the clinic complaining of a throat infection. Her health care provider prescribes a course of penicillin to manage her current infection and cautions her parents to watch her closely for a reaction. What type of reaction is the health care provider concerned about, and why? Explain the role of IgE and mast cells in type I hypersensitivity reactions. Why might EO react adversely to the antibiotic with the first use? What would you tell EO’s parents to look for when they are assessing for a reaction?

Jazz Week 5 Cardiovascular System 2025

Week #5: Cardiovascular Syste Randi Marchant, a 42-year-old waitress, was vacuuming the family room when she felt a painful squeezing in her chest again. This was the third time today, but this one really hurt. She sat down to catch her breath and stubbed out the cigarette she had left smoldering in the half-filled ashtray by the couch. Randi’s husband, Jimmy, and stepdaughter Melanie had pestered her until she finally had taken time off work to see her doctor. Dr. Harris found that her blood pressure was 158/88-probably owing to the noon rush stress at work, she rationalized. At least her cholesterol test was only 30 points above average this time. It had been slowly coming down, even though she cheated on her diet. Another wave of pain tightened its icy fingers around her heart, and the pain moved up into both sides of her jaw. Randi thought, “Probably just a little heartburn. Since the pain doesn’t radiate down my left arm, it couldn’t be my heart, could it?” “Don’t think about the pain,” she told herself. “Think of something else. Melanie’s prom dress needs altering.” Randi fell to the floor, clutching her chest, just as Melonie walked in. She saw her stepmother slumped on the floor and screamed, “Oh no! Help, somebody, help!” Assuming that Randi is suffering a myocardial infarction, discuss why it is important that she receive appropriate treatment quickly. What signs and symptoms are consistent with an MI? What are her treatment options? Incorporate terminology from this chapter into your posts Look for outside references to support your answers Initial post must be a minimum of 5-6 complete sentences

Medication Error 2025

This is just rewrite to avoid plagiarism A medication error is an error (of commission or omission) at any step along the pathway that begins when a clinician prescribes a medication and ends when the patient actually receives the medication (Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, 2019). In a study conducted by Da Silva and Krishnamurthy (2016), they state that preventable medication errors impact more than 7 million patients and cost almost $21 billion annually across all care settings. About 30% of hospitalized patients have at least one discrepancy on discharge medication reconciliation. Medication errors are an underreported burden that adversely affects patients, providers, and the economy. The study involved a 71-year-old female who accidentally received thiothixene (Navane), an antipsychotic, instead of her anti-hypertensive medication amlodipine (Norvasc) for 3 months. She sustained physical and psychological harm including ambulatory dysfunction, tremors, mood swings, and personality changes and had multiple hospital visits within the 3 months. Despite the many opportunities for intervention, multiple health care providers overlooked her symptoms. Admission medication reconciliation (MED REC) revealed that she was taking metoprolol, doxazosin, alprazolam, citalopram, and thiothixene (Navane) 10 mg twice daily. Upon review of her pill bottles, it was found that her outpatient pharmacy accidentally dispensed Navane (an antipsychotic) instead of Norvasc, and she dutifully took this medication for 3 months. The written prescription was deemed legible. A diagnosis of thiothixene-related drug-induced Parkinsonism was made. Thiothixene was discontinued and her clinical status improved. Da Silva and Krishnamurthy (2018) note that important steps to prevent medication error include clear patient instructions with indications for use on every prescription, utilization of EHR medication import (when available) to review outpatient prescription history, and creating a culture within the medical field of error discussion. Possibilities include medication teams who review admission and discharge reconciliations, team rounding with a pharmacist, encouraging postgraduate trainees and faculty to question indications and utility of medications, and distribution of national and institution data regarding errors, and adverse events. Mandatory training should occur for those providers who fail to document and reconcile medications properly. As a nurse practitioner it is important to monitor the patient especially when poor treatment response occurs or unusual symptoms develop, it is imperative that a review of medications and pill bottle review be part of the initial evaluation. I will implement and use multilevel safeguards, starting with error recognition. Medical error was recently described as the third leading cause of death and only by creating a culture of humility, communication, and teamwork can we learn from our mistakes and hope to decrease preventable errors. DNP- Translational Research and Evidence-Based Practice 2025

I need about 100-120 words for each question. I want each question with its references, and please, no plagiarized work. MODULE 1 DQ1 Describe a situation in which a new clinical practice was put into place. Was there a DNP-prepared nurse leading the translation of the practice from research to practice? If so, describe the process that individual took for translation and why it made a difference in the translation. If there was not a DNP-prepared nurse, describe the process and what would have been different about the process had there been a DNP-prepared nurse leading the practice translation? DQ2 Compare the PhD and DNP degrees. Define the differences in roles and education associated with the two degrees. Describe future opportunities for DNP-prepared nurses. MODULE 2 DQ1 Which research methodology would be the most appropriate for your project and how does it align with your clinical question, data collection, and data analysis? Demonstrate an example of when you might use the opposite methodology in your EBP projects and why. DQ2 Within nursing, the patient’s perception is recognized as the patient’s reality. How does this way of knowing in nursing fit within an objective or subjective paradigm of the world? Explain your reasoning. MODULE 3 DQ1 Which method do you prefer in determining levels of evidence? Describe two advantages to the method and one disadvantage to the method. Explain how you have used this method in your current practice or education. Why are levels of evidence important in selecting empirical articles for your ROL (Chapter 2 of your DPI project)? DQ2 Research can take between 10-20 years to be translated into practice. Discuss your thoughts on the reasons why this may occur and describe the barriers within your own practice that prevent you from practicing from a 100% evidence base. MODULE 4 DQ1 Reliability and validity are often misunderstood and not given much notice in research articles. Using any example, demonstrate how you would correctly describe these two terms to a nurse prepared at a bachelor’s degree level or below. Then describe why the reliability and validity of a study is important for translation. DQ2 What are the criteria for selecting qualitative versus quantitative resources in relation to your literature review? Which method(s) of research are you selecting? Why? MODULE 5 DQ1 What effect does a meta-synthesis or meta-analysis have on research translation? Describe a clinical practice in place that is supported by this level of evidence. DQ2 Comparative effective research is important in translating research. Describe one study that used comparative effective research. What were the findings and were they translated into practice? MODULE 6 DQ1 There is a heavy focus on achieving statistical significance when evaluating outcomes. Often in research or EBP projects, there is no statistical significance, only possible clinical significance. When is it appropriate to deem a project’s outcomes successful only using clinical significance as the only measure of success? DQ2 The three components of EBP include clinical expertise, best evidence, and patient preference. Often, patient preference and clinical expertise are at odds with each other. Describe a scenario where you might need to mediate this issue and what is the solution when this occurs. It can be a real-life example as well. MODULE 7 DQ1 Choose one model for EBP implementation. Describe its components and why you believe this model is most appropriate for assisting in translational activities. Contrast this model with another. DQ2 Discuss the role of the DNP-prepared nurse in sustaining an EBP culture. What are two effective methods the DNP can use in sustaining an EBP culture? MODULE 8 DQ1 Describe and discuss the differences between research, research utilization, and evidence-based practice. Provide examples. DQ2 Describe how you will assist others to generate their own evidence-based practice questions. Discuss what your professional obligation as a DNP-prepared nurse is related to evidence-based practice, patients, and other nurses?

Assignment: Windshield Survey/Community Assessment 2025

Conduct a “Windshield Survey” in a section of your community. Instructions for the survey can be found in Stanhope and Lancaster (2016) on page 416, Table 18-6. As you notice, conducting a Windshield Survey requires that you either walk around or drive around a particular section of the community and take notes about what you observe. A Windshield Survey cannot be conducted by reviewing websites or Google Earth only. It requires actually taking a look at the selected area of the community. This survey should be focused on the problem and population you have selected for your practicum project. If you choose, for example, obesity among Hispanic schoolchildren, you might want to locate a section of the community where many Hispanic children live, or you might want to conduct the Windshield Survey around where Hispanic children attend school. If Hispanic children are not found in a specific section of your community (e.g., Chinatown in San Francisco or Harlem in New York), then you may select the section of the community where you live or work but pay particular attention to your practicum population and practicum problem as you conduct a survey of the community as viewed through the eyes of the public health nurse. By Day 7 of Week 3 Submit a 3- to 4-page paper including: Introduction to the community, including the name of the community and any interesting or historical facts you would like to add about where you live Photographs of the selected area of the community that serve as evidence of your observations and hypotheses Windshield Survey findings, including a description of the section of your community that you chose to survey Description of the Vulnerable Population and Available Resources Demographics of the vulnerable population What social determinants create their vulnerable status? What community strengths exist to assist this population? Conclusions based on Nursing Assessment of the Community Based on what you have found, what conclusions can you draw about your community and your selected population for your practicum? Select at least 5 scholarly resources to support your assessment. Websites may be included but the paper must include scholarly resources in its development.
