Week 10 Assignment: Ethical Perspectives 2025

Complete the following assignment in a Word document. Determine which ethical perspective is primarily reflected in each of the arguments below and, in 1-2 sentences for each argument, explain why it corresponds to the ethical perspective you selected.. Ethical Perspectives: A = Consequentialism B = Duty Ethics/Deontology C = Virtue Ethics D = Moral Relativism Arguments: Free health care should be available to all people. After all, if that were the case, it would benefit everyone. Character education should be part of the public school system in the United States. We need to cultivate integrity in our children, and the public school system should play a role in this important process. Although many societies have practiced human sacrifice, human sacrifice wasn’t considered wrong, even though we believe it is wrong in our culture. So, human sacrifice within those cultures wasn’t really wrong. Same-sex marriage is right because the polls show that most Americans favor it, even if that is not the case in other countries. The legalization of same-sex marriage is wrong because the government has no right to legally sanction any form of personal relationship except one: marriage relationships between a man and a woman. That is the only type of relationship that can lead to procreation, and the state has a legitimate interest in procreation. Thus, the state has a duty to support marriage between a man and a woman, and a duty to refrain from getting legally involved in other types of relationships. Dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was wrong because those acts violated the right to life of many innocent people, and we should protect those rights. Dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was right because those acts ended the war faster, and thus made the world a safer place. We need to do a background check and to collect some character references on Mr. Jones before we hire him. He doesn’t have the right character and temperament to be a state governor. He has been involved in corruption scandals, known to be dishonest, and has problems controlling his anger. Sure, slavery is wrong in our society because we all agree it’s wrong. However, slavery isn’t absolutely wrong because many societies have practiced slavery.

week5 principle of assessment 2025

TASK Post your initial response to one of the scenarios below. Musculoskeletal and Neurologic System Using the South University Online Library, the Internet, and your textbook research the conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and the neurologic systems. Scenario 1 A 58-year-old female is admitted for a work up for a complaint of neck and low back pain. During admission, you discover that she underwent a renal transplant six years ago. The patient also had blood work collected. When you review the findings, you notice that her serum calcium is elevated at 13.9 (Normal values range from 8.5 to 10.2 mg/dl), her CBC shows a hematocrit of 33%, and hemoglobin of 11.1 g/dl (normal adult female hematocrit Range: 37-47%, normal adult female hemoglobin range: 12-16 g/dl). What could be the underlying cause of her pain and her abnormal lab values? What other assessments would be helpful? What interventions might be considered? Scenario 2 A 33-year-old Hispanic male is admitted and complains of a tingling sensation in his left leg, vertigo, and loss of balance. When you begin to perform intake history, you notice that his speech is slurred, his teeth are in need of repair, and he seems to be very drowsy. What other findings may you find in this individual? What would you think is the underlying cause of this patient’s complaint? How would you proceed with your assessment specifically for this patient? Response has to be in APA style

Ethics 2025

Instructions Review the following ethical dilemmas: John Doe has decided to clone himself. He is sterile. He cannot find anyone to marry him. He wishes to have children. He knows that he will not be able to love a child that is adopted or not connected directly to him biologically. He will be making use of a new procedure that involves taking his skin cells to produce a twin. The twin starts out as an embryo and grows into a child. The child in this case will have the same genetic information as John Doe. John Doe and his child will be twins. Jane Doe is eighteen. For as long as she can remember she has been sexually attracted to other females. Her parents belong to a religion that has a religious text stating that God forbids one to be a lesbian. This religion goes on further to say that lesbians will be punished in the afterlife. Jane Doe is debating whether she should tell her parents about her sexual attraction. She has not yet decided if she should come out to her parents and live as a lesbian now that she is a legal adult. Joe and Mary are a couple. Before becoming sterile, they had a child. This child died of a rare disease. Joe and Mary miss their child terribly. They have heard that there is a new IVF procedure that can ensure that they can have another child. However, their religion forbids using IVF. Use the resources assigned for this week and additional research, Instructions Select two of the situations above and then address 2 of the following: What is the relation between ethics and religion? Formulate and investigate the relation. For each case, determine the ethical path of conduct. Then, determine what paths of conduct would be unethical For each case, what would an emotivism say to appraise what you determine is the ethical form of conduct? For each case, would a natural law ethicist agree with what you say is the ethical form of conduct? Why or why not? Articulate, explain, and evaluate in each case an approach that makes use of divine command ethics. Writing Requirements (APA format) Length: 2-3 pages (not including title page or references page) 1-inch margins Double spaced 12-point Times New Roman font Title page References page (minimum of 2 scholarly sources)

Robbing the Dead: Is Organ Conscription Ethical? 2025

Assessment 4 Instructions: Robbing the Dead: Is Organ Conscription Ethical? Write a 2-3 page paper that examines the moral and ethical considerations of organ conscription policies and theories. Scarcity of Medical Resources For this assessment, you will continue your survey of ethical principles in health care. Especially in our contemporary world, where needs for health care outstrip available resources, we regularly face decisions about who should get which resources. There is a serious shortage of donor organs. Need vastly outstrips supply, due not only to medical advances related to organ transplantation, but also because not enough people consent to be cadaveric donors (an organ donor who has already died). Munson (2014) points out that in the United States, approximately 10,000 patients die each year because an organ donor was not available, which is three times the number of people killed in the terrorist attacks on 9/11. But what is an efficient and morally sound solution to this problem? The policy of presumed consent, where enacted, has scarcely increased supply, and other alternatives, such as allowing donors to sell their organs, raise strong moral objections. In light of this, some have advocated for a policy of conscription of cadaveric organs (Spital & Erin, 2002). This involves removing organs from the recently deceased without first obtaining consent of the donor or his or her family. Proponents of this policy argue that conscription would not only vastly increase the number of available organs, and hence save many lives, but that it is also more efficient and less costly than policies requiring prior consent. Finally, because with a conscription policy all people would share the burden of providing organs after death and all would stand to benefit should the need arise, the policy is fair and just. Demonstration of Proficiency By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and scoring guide criteria: Competency 1: Articulate ethical issues in health care. Articulate the moral concerns surrounding a policy of organ conscription. Articulate questions about the fairness and justness of organ conscription policy. Explain the relevance and significance of the concept of consent as it pertains to organ donation. Evaluate alternative policies for increasing available donor organs. Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and respectful of the diversity, dignity, and integrity of others and is consistent with health care professionals. Exhibit proficiency in clear and effective academic writing skills. References Munson, R. (2014). Intervention and reflection: Basic issues in bioethics (concise ed.). Boston, MA: Wadsworth. Spital, A., & Erin, C. (2002). Conscription of cadaveric organs for transplantation: Let’s at least talk about it. American Journal of Kidney Disease, 39 (3), 611–615. Instructions Do you consider the policy of organ conscription to be morally sound? Write a paper that answers this question, defending that answer with cogent moral reasoning and supporting your view with ethical theories or moral principles you take to be most relevant to the issue. In addition to reviewing the suggested resources, you are encouraged to locate additional resources in the Capella library, your public library, or authoritative online sites to provide additional support for your viewpoint. Be sure to weave and cite the resources throughout your work. In your paper, address the following: On what grounds could one argue that consent is not ethically required for conscription of cadaveric organs? And on what grounds could one argue that consent is required? Is the policy truly just and fair, as supporters claim? Explain. Do you consider one of the alternative policies for increasing available donor organs that Munson discusses to be preferable to conscription? Explain why or why not. Submission Requirements Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message. APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting guidelines. Length: 2–3 typed, double-spaced pages. Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point. SCORING GUIDE Use the scoring guide to understand how your assessment will be evaluated.
