Environmental and Genetic Impact on Fetal DevelopmentBoth environmental and genetic influences impact fetal development. Some substances (e.g., folic acid, hormones, etc.) have the biggest influence at sensitive periods during gestation. Early in gestation, when neurological development is at its peak, folic acid is most important. Hormones, such as androgen and estrogen, are necessary for external genital differentiation between 9 and 12 weeks of gestation. Prenatal alcohol exposure, however, can impact fetal growth at any time during gestation. On the other hand, environmental influences such as maternal genetics, nutrition, health, and immunization can have a positive impact on fetal development, mitigating the impact of substances and other negative influences. In addition to environmental influences, you must also consider the impact of genetic influences. Genes determine not only an individual’s physical features at birth—they also contribute to hormonal processes throughout the lifespan. The interaction of environmental influences and genetic influences impacts the development of a fetus. For this Discussion, you will examine environmental and genetic influences on fetal development. To prepare for this Discussion:Select one genetic influence and one environmental influence on fetal development and think about how these influences might impact each other.By Day 4Post a brief description of the genetic influence and the environmental influence you selected. Then, explain how the environmental influence might positively or negatively affect the development of a fetus with the genetic influence you selected. Be specific and provide examples. Use your Learning Resources to support your post. Use proper APA format and citations.

Discussion: Memory, Cognition, and Cognitive NeuroscienceDuring the late 1960s and early 1970s, cognitive psychology researchers conducted studies that offered new information about how memory is stored and processed. Findings suggested that memory is first encoded based on sensory data from the environment (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell), moved to short-term memory, where it can be easily retrieved, and, when rehearsed (i.e., repeated thinking about the memory), moved to long-term memory, where it is stored and can be retrieved at a later date (Atkinson & Shiffrin, 1968; Craik & Lockhart, 1972).The basic structural information about memory that arose from these early studies, along with the emergence of brain imaging technology, has led to major advancements in our understanding of cognition and cognitive neuroscience. For example, there is a body of literature on the association between PTSD and memory dysfunction. Traumatic memories are thought to be encoded differently than other memories, which helps explain symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety. In addition, experiencing a traumatic event and then consistently reliving it through flashbacks and nightmares can damage the hippocampus, the area of the brain responsible for memory encoding, leading to deficits in short-term memory (Hays, VanElzakker, & Shin, 2012; MacIntosh & Whiffen, 2005). Fortunately, exciting new research on neuroplasticity suggests that the brain is malleable and that it is possible to reverse the damage to certain parts of the brain (Kays, Hurley, & Taber, 2012).In this discussion, you will examine other studies on memory and consider how the findings contribute to our understanding of cognition and cognitive neuroscience.References:Atkinson, R. Week 7 Case Study Discussion – Solution Focused/Narrative | 2025 Custom Writing

Instructions – Case Study OutlineWeek 7 Case Study: Solution Focused / Narrative1. Read the following case study.Week 7 Case Study MadisonMadison gears up for another day in sixth grade. The transition to middle school has been difficult one for her. Since the beginning of the school year, she has felt so isolated from her peers, even those who were her friends in fifth grade. Although her mom, Sarah, often asks how things are going, Madison hesitates to let her know just how hard things have been at school recently. Brooke, Traci, and Caroline are certainly the most popular girls at the school, and even Madison’s best friend, Laura, seem to have fallen under their spell. In fifth grade, she and Laura did everything together, and now Madison hardly sees her even outside of school. At lunch today, Madison decides to approach Laura, who is sitting with Brooke, Traci and Caroline. She asks Laura, “Can I sit here?” Before Laura can respond, Brooke tells Madison, “We don’t sit with losers,” Traci and Caroline start to laugh, and Traci says, “Yeah, Madison, go join the other losers over there,” which makes Caroline laugh even harder. Fighting back tears, Madison walks away, throws her food in the trash, and runs out of the cafeteria. By the time she gets home from school, someone has posted a video on her Facebook page, showing her crying in the hallway outside of the lunchroom, with the caption, “cry baby loser.”When Sarah gets home from work, she can immediately tell that something is wrong with Madison, yet Madison won’t tell her what happened. Sarah hates to do this, but she decides to check out Madison’s Facebook page. There, she finds the video and is horrified. When she approaches Madison about it, Madison begs her mom not to do anything, because she believes it will only make it worse for her at school. Sarah believes she must do something, but when does she begin. Please respond to classmate. Be constructive and professional in your responses.Response should be at least 175 words.Lamonze Parker6/25/20, 4:59 PMHello Class and professor,The real problem with having an international code of ethics is the cultural differences in different countries. You may choose to not do business with countries who have strict guidelines on something like sensuality, religion or political views. Implementation of a universal code may no go over well. Apple operates in China and the labor laws are very different there than they are here. Having a international code of ethics could possibly stop production in that country forcing the price of phone to go up if they are produced elsewhere . As much as I disagree with the standard held in different countries you can’t argue with the facts. We want justice but most of us don’t want to pay for it. The best standard is to have a region specific guide line that you want your business to abide by. Keep in mind that you can’t highlight production facilities in different countries on your daily reports if they have less than practical working policies. Try to find places with like minded views to work with in order to align with your standards.ReferencePepsico. (2020). Pepsico Global Code Of Ethics. Please respond to classmate. Be constructive and professional in your responses.Response should be at least 175 words. One (1) APA reference needed.Kenya Johnson9:31 PMHello everyone,The main purpose of business ethics is to make sure that trust and reliable service is established between consumers and an organization. In my opinion, I believe that since our company is based in 15 countries, yes we should have an international code of business ethics to ensure compliance throughout the whole organization. Most international businesses want to encourage organizations to adapt to the host country’s culture but I think that we should follow the guidelines of our organization. I believe that an organization’s business ethics and morals guidelines should be aligned across the board. When it comes to International laws, they may not be too helpful in guiding conduct and it is unclear whether a country’s legal system has regulatory authority over global transactions. Let’s consider developing countries, their ideas of pay, behavior and culture may be different from ours so you want to make sure that the employees are treated the same way and That they understand they will be supported in their decisions by having a standard code of business ethics. Also what may be widely successful in the states may not go over well in other countries So you have to have a plan for that.ReferencesPublications, S. (2012).
