Groups and teams impact health care organizations together and separately. A group of people is not necessarily a team. Groups may be categorized into three types. Primary groups are basic like family and they have powerful influence on it’s members like self-concept, attitudes and perceptions. The secondary groups are formed in adulthood which includes work, and professionals. They will influence attitudes and perceptions through various interactions. Then you have your reference groups that individuals can use as a “point of reference” in determining judgements, preferences and behavior patterns. Groups are usually voluntary where teams are health or social professionals who share an identity and work closely together in an independent and integrated manner. Teamwork and collaboration are especially essential to the care of patients in a decentralized health system and they work together to develop health promotion for diverse communities and instill disease prevention among patients . There is a need for teams to care for patients on every level on a daily basis. There are teams of care from the emergency room to the operating room and after care.I have worked in teams from the laboratory to the operating room. The most important thing I learned is that your team is only strongest as the weakest link. If blood samples were brought to the laboratory and the the specimen was not logged there would be a delay in results. If the specimen was logged immediately and the technician did not process it immediately, there would be a delay in results. We had to work together in a timely manner to effectively get the results to the departments.

All hospitals to my knowledge is based on a team and group environment. For an example, I am the Chairman of my committee “The Environment of Care”. My team or group of individuals come together every month for our meetings and discuss patient safety, Safety plan, Security plan, Hazardous materials plan, Fire safety plan, Bio-med plan, and Utilities plan. Prior to our meetings our group also meets up to conduct EOC rounds of different departments every month. We are working together to find deficiencies or safety issues that could cause harm to any individual. Other examples would be our Emergency Operations Committee, where we discuss our emergency operations plan for like the pandemic that we all are facing for the last eight months. This group practices scenario’s and completes two live drills every year. In my twenty years being in the healthcare industry the experience working with teams in the workplace was first difficult at first, because certain people had their own point of view but were very naïve to disasters. The most important lesson I have learned is be open and communicate properly to everyone as if they are equal in authority.

Discussion: Confounding Variables | 2025

Discussion: Confounding Variables | 2025 Custom Writing

Internal validity in a research study is the extent to which changes in the dependent variable can confidently be attributed to the influence of the independent variable rather than to possible confounding variables. In other words, was it really the independent variable that had an effect on the dependent variable or did something else cause the effect? For example, presume that an instructor wants to try a new reading efficiency strategy to improve reading comprehension of college students in an online course. The instructor divides the class into two equal groups. One group (the experimental group) reads a passage using the new reading strategy taught by the instructor. The other group (the control group) reads the same passage but is not exposed to the new strategy. Next, both groups of students complete a reading comprehension test. The assumption is that if the group exposed to the new reading strategy scored higher than the other group, the new reading strategy is effective. What else could explain the difference in scores? Is it possible that the students enrolled in the group that learned the new strategy already had high reading comprehension skills? What if this group already knew more about the information in the reading passage? Could the instructor have inadvertently biased the study because he taught the new reading strategy, and he selected the reading passages that both groups read?Possible situations, or reasons, that could interfere with obtaining accurate results are called confounds, and could be a threat to the internal validity of a study. It is important to keep in mind though, that the presence of a possible confounding variable in a study does not necessarily mean it is responsible for obtained results. Rather, the independent variable (e.g., the reading intervention) may have actually had an effect on the dependent variable (the test results). In this Discussion, you will examine possible confounding variable(s) in research studies from your course textbook and apply methodology for addressing and/or eliminating the possible confound(s).To prepare:Read Chapter 12 in your course text.   Stangor, C. (2015). Research methods for the behavioral sciences (5th ed.). Stamford, CT: Cengage Learning.Chapter 12, “Experimental Control and Internal Validity”Chapter 13, “External Validity”Read the “Thinking Critically About Research” scenarios (a—i) in Chapter 12, pages 256–258.Choose the scenario that most interests you. Note: Before selecting a scenario, view the Discussion 4 Forum to see if any colleagues have already posted. If so, select a letter that has not yet been chosen. All nine (a–i) letters should addressed before a student repeats a letter. For your chosen scenario, determine the possible confounding variable(s) (there may be more than one), and consider how they might be eliminated using research designs presented in the readings (e.g., 2×2 factorial design).  (choose any scenario besides D, I and H)Note: You can assume that random assignment took care of any potential differences in the groups; therefore, group differences are not a potential confound. With these thoughts in mind:By Day 3Indicate the letter of the scenario you selected in the “Subject” field of your post. You should be addressing a scenario different from those posted, unless your colleagues have already addressed all nine scenarios. Identify and explain the possible confounding variable(s) (e.g., demand characteristics, placebo effect) in your chosen scenario.Drawing from the Learning Resources this week, explain a specific research design (e.g., 2×2 factorial design, repeated measures design) the researcher(s) could use to control for confounding variables.Note: Be sure to support the responses within your Discussion post, and in your colleague reply, with evidence from the assigned Learning Resources.

Sampling | 2025

Sampling | 2025 Custom Writing

SamplingIn qualitative and quantitative studies, sampling refers to selecting a particular sample of individuals from a larger population. This process is often called participant selection. Qualitative research collects rich data from fewer sources, while quantitative research attempts to collect a larger, more representative sample from the population as a whole. Selection criteria for eligibility in a study is similar for both quantitative and qualitative studies, however, there are some differences with respect to the procedures used and the size of the samples.Instructions:Consider a particular topic (this can be the topic from one of your previous discussions or assignments), and a particular qualitative or quantitative research design and state the factors you would consider in choosing participants for the study. Be sure to answer the following in your discussion:What sampling method would you use?How would you go about deciding how many participants to select given a particular methodology? What factors should be considered regarding sample size, representativeness, and apparent biases in the selection of the sample?Your post should be at least 300 words. For this discussion, rather than responding to two peers, select one peer whose study idea you find particularly intriguing and engage in a back and forth discussion with that peer about the discussion question topics. You may reconnect with the peer you discussed with in Week 4 Discussion 1 or select a different peer this week. Make sure to have at least two substantive posts to that classmate. Here, our goal is to dive a bit deeper into a discussion with an individual peer. Feel free to post additional responses to the discussion thread that share what you both learned from your exchange. Peer responses should by posted by Day 7.

General Psychology Discussion | 2025

General Psychology Discussion | 2025 Custom Writing

You see descriptions of four different types of parenting styles (authoritarian, authoritative, permissive (For your information: in some writing, this is called permissive-indulgent), uninvolved (For your information: in some writing, this is called permissive-indifferent). Read the information given in the text, then read the examples I have provided below. These are only potential examples, but I hope they will help you identify what your parent(s) or person that raised you used for parenting. In the examples below, let’s say that Tina, a 16-year-old girl, is wanting to stay out late at a school dance on a Thursday night. I will give an example of how a parent from each style might respond to this.Authoritarian parents:Tina comes home from school and asks her dad if she can go to the dance, which is on a Thursday night. He immediately tells her simply, “No. You know the rules. No going out on school nights.” She tries to interject why she thinks she should be allowed to go on this special occasion. Her father becomes frustrated with her challenging his authority and yells, “As long as you are in my house, under my roof, you are going to follow my rules! I don’t want to hear any more about it!” Tina runs off to her room yelling, “You never let me do anything or make any decisions for myself!” He simply says, “I am the boss” and does not explain any further about why he won’t let her go out.Note that these parents tend to be highly controlling and do not let the child make her own decisions. Instead, this parent makes the decisions for the child, deciding what is best for her. Also, this parent does not allow for negotiations with the child. Explanations are hard to come by and, if given, are simply that the parent has all the control and is “the boss.”Authoritative parents: (Careful! This word is spelt very similarly to the word authoritarian)Tina comes home from school and asks her dad if she can go to the dance, which is on a Thursday night. Her dad says, “You know we have a rule that you can’t go out on school nights.” Tina says, “Well, I think that an exception should be made for this night” and goes on to explain why it is important to her. Her dad is interested in what she has to say and listens to her perspective. He allows her to negotiate with him. In the end, it is agreed that she can go, but must be driven by him and must meet him by 10 p.m. directly outside of the dance. He explains the reasons for his concerns so that she understands why she can’t just do what she wants. Both she and her dad seem satisfied with the decision, though she still wishes she could just go to the dance with her friends. This parent tends to be open to negotiation and interested in the child’s viewpoint. This doesn’t mean that this parent simply hands over the control. They allow the child to slowly start developing decision-making skills when appropriate. Rules are not only clear, but the reasons for having them are explained (not simply demanded, as with the authoritarian parent).Permissive parents:What’s funny about this “going to the dance” scenario, is that Tina would likely not even ask her dad if she could go. She would most likely just tell him she was going (or not even tell him at all and just go). Since her dad is permissive, she would likely not have very many rules at all. If she did have a rule about going out on a school night, she would simply do it anyway, and because her parent is permissive, there would likely not be any consequence for her inappropriate action.Permissive parents tend to just let their children do whatever they want when they want. If there are any rules that are broken, there are typically no punishments (or the punishments are not severe or enforced). In my experience, permissive parents tend to value more of a friendship with their children, as opposed to a parent-child relationship.Uninvolved parents:In this case, the “ going to the dance” scenario, would also be different. The uninvolved parent is just that: uninvolved. The parent may not be available for a variety of reasons. It could be that the parent has to work all of the time. It could be that he has so many emotional problems himself that he just can’t spare any energy or attention for his daughter. This child likely wouldn’t ask and the parent really wouldn’t care much, leaving the child to make all of her own decisions. This parent is different from the permissive parent in that this parent is not actively involved in the child’s life. (The permissive parent is very warm and available, just very low in control and guidance.)Now what I want you to do is to apply your new understanding to your life. Pick a person who raised you and answer the following questions. Just pick one to talk about.  If you are uncomfortable talking about yourself, interview a friend that does not mind you using their information here. Use a paragraph (or two) for each number below. Be sure you respond to all of the prompts below.Name the style this person primarily used. (Just pick one even if the parent used more than one type or the style used changed over time.)  Then, give some examples of this parenting style from your experience.Discuss why you think this person primarily used this type of parenting style. This means you should pick one or more possible reasons and then describe how you know they played a role by using examples.(For instance, were they raised that way, too? Did culture play a role?)Finally, assess the effectiveness of this parenting style for you (not children in general) and your personality. Discuss the impact of this parenting style on how you are today (as an adult or a late adolescent). Consider if you had a positive outcome or not. (This would also be the place to mention the influence of another parental figure if you wish.)Cite when you need to from the book or other sources in APA style.
