 The relationship between national and global health and nursing leadership is extremely important. Health equity is essential for people to have the opportunity to live productive and healthy lives and achieve their full potential (Huber, 2018). Sadly, in the global and national health arenas, this is not so, and there are grave disparities in access to healthcare. The nurse leader has a duty and responsibility to advocate in his or her area of expertise. It is imperative that nurse and healthcare leaders address these disparities at not only on a national level but also on a global one Huber, 2018).

       For instance, on a national level, one example is the undocumented population. Health disparities often occur due to lack of health insurance and access to healthcare (Huber, 2018). In the United States alone there are more than 12 million individuals without access to healthcare, many with chronic or long-term ailments (Sorrell, 2017). Lack of decent health coverage is an ethical issue because adequate healthcare is a basic human right and need (Sorrell, 2017). Healthcare should be fair, safe and impartial, and should improve the health of the population (Huber, 2018). One of the drawbacks is that healthcare and nursing leaders have lack of guidance concerning the authorization and delivery of healthcare to this population (Sorrell, 2017).

       How should the nursing leader advocate for these immigrants?  Nurse leaders and other healthcare providers need to publicly recommend and support policies that provide lasting and impartial health provisions for these individuals (Sorrell, 2017).  Nurse leaders need to join with lawmakers and organizations such as the Center on Health Equity Action for System Transformation or the Health Equity Task Force to help develop a health equity centered system (Families USA, 2019).

No one can predict the future, but accountants and financial managers must try and do exactly that!  By examining net revenue, costs, and cash flow, you can get a clearer picture of what to expect in your organization’s (or one with which you are familiar) fiscal future. Using these metrics to look forward will enable you to more effectively plan budgets that accomplish organizational goals.  When developing a budget, what variables do you have to take into account? In health care organizations, two of the largest groups of factors that you must consider are first, volume, and second, staffing and supply. The number of patients and tests performed each day, as well as employees and their pay rates are all crucial pieces of information when determining a budget.  In this Assignment, you address five scenarios: net revenue, fixed and variable costs, cash flow, volume budget, and staffing and supplies budget.   Note: For those Assignments in this course that require you to perform calculations you must:  •Use the Excel spreadsheet template for the Week 5 assignment. 

Show all your calculations and formulas in the spreadsheet. •Answer any questions included with the problems (as text in the Excel spreadsheet).   A title and reference page are NOT needed in this assignment.  Put your name and assignment at the top of the Excel spreadsheet.  For those not comfortable with the use of Microsoft Excel, this week’s Optional Resources suggest several tutorials.  To prepare: •Review the information in this week’s Learning Resources regarding net revenue, fixed and variable costs, and cash flow, and how they are used in financial decision making.  •Review the budgeting information in Week 5 Learning Resources dealing with volume, staffing, and supplies budget.

Technology is an important part of ensuring success in implementing change projects. This is especially true in the case of implementing a postpartum hemorrhage bundle. Postpartum hemorrhage is considered a high-risk low-volume event which means it does not occur often, but when it does there is much at stake (Lutgendorf et al., 2017). Technology will be utilized to successfully implement the postpartum hemorrhage bundle. The main way we will use technology is during simulation training. Simulation trainings using the Noelle mannequin offer life-like scenarios in the department where patient care occurs. Using simulation allows staff to work as they would in real life but does not put patient safety at risk. It also allows for debriefing afterward and identifies gaps in the workflow (Lutgendorf et al., 2017). We can also use technology to help us track postpartum hemorrhage data. We are developing a spreadsheet that tracks the number of patients who experienced hemorrhage and need for transfusion. This allows us to validate the effectiveness of our postpartum hemorrhage bundle.
