Post your initial response to one of the scenarios below. Male & Female Reproductive System Using the South University Online Library, the Internet and your textbook, research the conditions affecting the male and female reproductive systems. Scenario 1: Mrs. Smith is a 50 year old Caucasian woman who has 4 children ages 17, 15, 13, and 10. She was 33 with the birth of her first child. Her BMI is 25. She has no personal or family history of breast cancer. She lives with her husband in a suburban community. She is an elementary school teacher who is working part-time as a substitute so she can be home with her children. She has been healthy with no previous medical history. One year ago she noted a small palpable lump in her right breast about the size of an almond. Because she has been healthy she assumed it was nothing and ignored it. Over the last month she has noted that this lump has been increasing in size. Her health insurance would be expiring in the next month so she reluctantly decided to have a mammogram. She called for an appointment and they were unable to see her for another 2 months. After waiting 2 months, her mammogram confirmed a 5 cm mass. She then had an ultrasound guided biopsy. This biopsy confirmed the presence of cancer cells. An additional biopsy confirmed the presence of cancer cells in 3 of her lymph nodes most proximal to the tumor. What are the primary concerns for the patient right now? Why? What are some of the expected medical surgical interventions? What further assessment will be needed? What pharmaceutical drugs are approved treatments for breast cancer patients? Scenario 2: Mr. B is a 77 year old African American man who complains of difficulty urinating. What could be the underlying cause of these symptoms? What are his risk factors? What laboratory tests would be needed to confirm possible differential diagnoses? What interventions would you expect

TASK Post your initial response to one of the two topics below. Topic 1 Review the Healthy People 2020 objectives for the older adult. Of the objectives listed for the older adult, which two do you feel are most important? Include examples and references to support your response. Topic 2 There are several vulnerable populations who are susceptible to chronic illnesses (older; homeless; and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations) and who face challenges when it comes to care. Choose one vulnerable population and identify chronic illnesses to which they might be susceptible Identify challenges they face related to one of the identified chronic illnesses Discuss what can be done to help alleviate these challenges.

Sampling theory is part of research and how samples are taken in order to conduct an experiment or a type of clinical trial. There are two major categories of sampling methods, one is probability sampling methods where all subjects in the target population have equal chances to be selected in the sample (Shorten & Moorley, 2014). The other is non-probability sampling methods where the sample population is selected in a non-systematic process that does not guarantee equal chances for each subject in the target population. Samples which were selected using probability sampling methods are more representatives of the target population ( Shorten & Moorley, 2014). An example for this would be simple random sampling. For example choosing randomly from a group of people to conduct a study on the effects of tobacco use from a group of those people who use tobacco and have a history of over ten years of smoking. From that group it can be specifically subject to only males and within a certain age gap in order to make the study more efficient. Generalizability can be defined as the extension of research findings and conclusions from a study conducted on a sample population to the population at large (Generalizability, 2020). When it comes to nursing research it can help by being able to form some type of idea or hypotheses from a sample that was conducted from a research. This way one can have an idea of what the probability that something will work will actually be effective. References: A Shorten, C Moorley. Selecting the sample. By using this theory when it comes to research, it can be very beneficial with structure and the appropriate study sampling with choosing the appropriate subjects according to the picot question (Helbig, 2018). For example, when starting a research sampling topic, one can use the diabetic medication adherence in a 50-60-year-old males. Another example would be testing the pediatric population by studying the unimmunized patients versus the ones that were immunized and how they compare to the amount of times they were sick. This selects a population concerning a topic and will define what the sampling theory will be researching about. Generalizability is just another extension to sampling, where one goes the extra mile on conclusions of a result or how far went into researching the sample population or which population was chosen. Generalizability will be used a lot in the nursing research to see how in depth one went into the sampling theory or other types of theories for that matter. Helbig, J. (2018).
