Hello i need a good and positive comment related with this argument .A paragraph with no more 90 words. Tammy Wagner 3 posts Re:Topic 3 DQ 1 A vulnerable population is a group that is more likely going to develop health-related problems. They are more likely to have problems accessing health care, and are more likely to have shorter life spans and poorer outcomes. Not all persons that are at risk for poor health are vulnerable. To be vulnerable, there must be aggravating factors that place them at greater risk for on-going poor health. At risk populations are sometimes associated with people that exibit concerns with communication, medical, independence, supervision, and transportation services. The key is based on understanding how a person functions on a daily basis (Minnesota Department of Health, 2016) . At risk populations would be those with cancer, people with transplants, people with HIV, pregnancy, and diabetes. Some groups that would be considered vulnerable would be the econmical disadvantaged, racial and ethnic minorities, the uninsured -low income children, the elderly, the mentally ill, and the homeless. In L&D, we see a group that is vulnerable, the pregnant homeless woman. There is a pattern that typically follows; no support system, substance abuse issues, and mental health issues. This group has a hard time advocating for themselves due to the systems many hurdles and also the mear fact, these women tend to have mental health unstabilites. Substance abuse further complicates their plight. We have services in place to help them find a living situation that would be in their best interest, however, they are still able to accept or decline help. We see this population coming in to the OB triage frequently to obtain some prenatal care, which is better than none. It is frightening for them, they know their child will be taken away from them, they also may fear repurcutions of their drug use concerning their baby. In South Carolina, drug abuse by a pregnant woman is the toughest in the nation. In 1997, a South Carolina court ruled that expectant mothers who use drugs can be convicted of child abuse, dozens of women in that state have faced charges due to their drug abuse (“Pregnant and homeless,” 2001) . Being part of this vulnerable population puts the woman and unborn baby at-risk. These women fall through the cracks without proper advocacy. There is so much that needs to be done to help this woman find success in her life, it is overwhelming for the nurse and professionals trained in this area, we can only imagine how heavy this burden must be for the woman when she stands alone. Amy Winehouse had borderline personality disorder, this was her vulnerability, this made her susceptible to self-destructive behaviors. Freddy Mercury (Queen) was a member of an at-risk population, he was a gay man with HIV. This made his body vulnerable to AIDS. Amy and Freddy lost their lives due to their vulnerability and at-risk factors. We all carry our histories in our bodies.

Hello i need a good and positive comment related with this argument .A paragraph with no more 90 words. Melissa Ethridge 3 posts Re:Topic 3 DQ 1 Vulnerability is indicating a population or individuals that are more likely for something to happen to them or develop a disease. Such as babies, elderly are more vulnerable to become ill. To be labeled vulnerable the group or person has factors that aggravate their current diagnosis (Maurer & Smith, 2013). A women that is 50 years old that is very inactive and smokes would be at risk for heart disease. The same women that was homeless and had no insurance would be more vulnerable to have poor health status than someone that had insurance or a job to be able to provide income for health care. An at risk population are those such as cancer patients, HIV positive patients and organ transplant patients. They are more at risk of developing further problems down the road. The increased about of risk factors for a person or group in poor health, the more vulnerable they are (Maurer & Smith, 2013). Most babies cannot advocate for themselves because they cannot speak for themselves. Babies need someone to stand up for them and fight for their rights. Babies cannot protect themselves from infections or being exposed. These babies need an adult that knows how to protect the baby and voice opinions on their behalf. An example would be vaccinations. The baby cannot tell the physician that they want the vaccinations that will prevent them from contracting a deadly communicable disease. But health care works can educate that parents and advocate for the babies to have the available vaccines that could save their lives or prevent them from getting ill.

Step 1: Collect 3 day diet record — You will use the provided 3 day diet diary form for each day to collect your diary for anything you eat and drink! Here is what you need to do to complete this assignment: Getting started – Collect diary, record behaviors & set up profile · Keep a food diary for 3 days- 2 week days and 1 weekend day (consecutive days). Try to choose days that are fairly typical of your intake so that you can better understand your usual diet. In other words – don’t record on days that you are sick, your birthday, etc. Use the food record sheet in the diet analysis project folder on Blackboard for your records. a. Carry the food record with you and record everything or eat or drink (including water and any other fluid*) i. record immediately after eating with as much detail as possible ii. be accurate with portion sizes – this is IMPORTANT b. Do not include vitamin and mineral supplements since you are looking only at food intake – you can discuss whether or not you need one later in the paper. If you take a protein supplement or drink protein shakes, include these as they will influence calorie and macronutrient intake – you will often need to add the protein supplement as a custom food if you are consuming one. c. You need to record your intake on the Diet Diary Form (1 form for each day) i. you should be very detailed. It will be easier to do the analysis if you have kept a good record of everything that you eat and drink. ii. record the meal and time you ate – you decide what the meal is. If you get up at noon on Saturday and you eat – that might be your breakfast and it might be lunch iii. record the food/beverage in as much detail as possible and the portion. You do not have to record method of preparation unless it will affect the food. For example – a pop tart is the same if it is toasted or not. But chicken is different if it is fried or baked. iv. Record the portion size – accurately, refer to the tools in chapter 1-2 to better determine serving size – you will also find a handout in the diet analysis project to estimate portion sizes v. Record where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing when eating. For example, you might have been alone at kitchen table reading your nutrition book. Or you might be at work with co-workers. Or you might be with friends watching TV vi. Rate your hunger on scale of 1= not hungry and 5 = famished – you will need this data later in your report to discuss hunger rating vii. Assess how you were feeling (bored, happy, stressed, rushed, etc.) viii. Estimate how long it took you to eat, record in minutes (again details are needed).

Kathy I agree with you. Social determinants of health can affect different funcioning and quality of life of individuals. When I think about the quality of life of the homeless I think about the condition in which they live, the unhealthy food they have to eat because they don’t have a choise for a healthy meal. Healthy meal for a homeless person is a feast. Infectious diseases is higher in homeless people than in the general populaton. People who are homeless also die 30 years before reaching life expectancy compared to the general population and have higher prevalence to acquire infectious diseases. I NEED YOU TO COMMENT FROM THIS POST, NO MORE THAN 150 WORDS NEEDED AND A REFERENCE PLEASE.
