MN566 Journal – Narrative – 2025

No Plegarism please, assignment will be checked with Turnitin.

Will need minimum of 300 words, APA Style, double spaced, times new romans, font 12.

Writing about one’s personal experience encourages self-reflection and improves self-awareness. In this activitystudents are invited to reflect, in writing, on their experiences related to managing clinical risks for patients. Students to write about an event they observed or were involved in during their nursing profession that they feel might have placed a patient at risk. Alternatively, students may want to write about an event that occurred to them as recipients of healthcare, or as an observer to their friends’ or family members’ experiences. The event may be one that they feel related to any of anticipation, recognition, or management of a patient safety risk. Safe patient care and reducing medical-legal risk requires nurse practitioners to be aware of potential risks and how to avoid them.

The narrative should include:

a description of the event

an explanation of how this event placed a patient at risk

the student’s reflections on the event including:

if and how the event was recognized

why and how the event occurred, for example, was the event due to

* action or inaction by an individual healthcare provide

*system failure(s)

*a combination of systems failure(s) and individual provider performance issue

what changes or improvements they would make, if any

how they felt at the time

how they currently feel about the even

Were you personally involved in the event? Discuss.

What, if any, workplace factors contributed to the event? (e.g., Was it during a handover? Did it involve a medication?)

How aware was the healthcare provider(s) of what was going on around them? (situational awareness)

How did the health care provider(s) recognize the safety problem, and how did they respond?

How did this event affect you?

What did you take away that you will use in the future?

I would do something differently next time because

Discussion 4b – 2025

Did you know that the United States has a higher rate of infant mortality than Japan (CIA, n.d.)? Or, as Dr. Beilenson states in this week’s media presentation, that “your zip code that you live in makes more difference in your health and well-being than the genetic code that you’re born with?” What causes these differences in health outcomes?

To effectively develop policies and programs to improve population health, it is useful to use a framework to guide the process. Different organizations and governmental agencies (for example, Healthy People 2020) have created a variety of such frameworks, which establish measures for assessing population health. These measures frequently are derived from the examination of epidemiologic data, which include key measures of population health such as mortality, morbidity, life expectancy, etc. Within each measure are a variety of progress indicators that use epidemiologic data to assess improvement or change.

For this Discussion, you will apply a framework developed by Kindig, Asada, and Booske (2008) to a population health issue of interest to you. This framework includes five key health determinants that should be considered when developing policies and programs to improve population health: access to health care, individual behavior, social environment, physical environment, and genetics.

To prepare:

  • Review the article “A Population Health Framework for Setting National and State Health Goals,” focusing on population health determinants.
  • Review the information in the blog post “What Is Population Health?”
  • With this information in mind, elect a population health issue that is of interest to you.
  • Using this week’s Learning Resources, the Walden Library, and other relevant resources, conduct a search to locate current data on your population health issue.
  • Consider how epidemiologic data has been used to design population health measures and policy initiatives in addressing this issue.

Post a summary of how the five population health determinants (access to health care, individual behavior, social environment, physical environment, and genetics) affect your selected health issue, and which determinants you think are most impactful for that particular issue and why. Explain how epidemiologic data supports the significance of your issue, and explain how this data has been used in designing population health measures and policy initiatives.

Discussion: Finance And The Health Care Manager – 2025

With the amazing advances in health care in recent decades, one question that continues to stir debate within the political arena and from a personal perspective is: “How to pay for health care” Health care managers must be good stewards of their resources to allow the funds available to do the greatest good for the largest number of people. Health care finance information is critical to assessing the financial condition of an organization, as well as accessing whether the resources being spent are achieving the goals of the organization.

To prepare for this Discussion, select a recent (within 5 years) relevant article from the Walden University library and current information from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Knowledge Center, that addresses the importance of health care finance information in decision making within the health care setting.

Post a comprehensive response(250-350 words) to the following:

How do health care managers depicted in the article and website information you selected apply the principles of financial management to decisions, to the assessment of the financial condition of an entity or stewardship, or to the assessment of the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with organization directives?

Homework Help W3a1 – 2025

 Retirement

Retirement in the Unites States today forms a normal part of the life  cycle. Most people will spend some time in retirement. Atchley and  Barusch (2003) describe retirement as a series of stages. This  five-stage model takes a life-course perspective on retirement. It shows  the interplay between a person’s past, his or her current life, and  external events.

The population of older adults in the United States has grown more  than ten times in size from 1900 to 2003, from 3.1 million to 36 million  people.

Projections show that this population will more than double from the  year 2000 to 2050, increasing from 35 million to 86.7 million (Novak,  2009).

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research  on retirement specifically in the context of United States. Based on  your research and understanding, respond to the following:

  • Explain the five stages of retirement. Which stage do you think is most important? Why?
  • Describe the factors that a person has to consider when contemplating retirement.
  • Describe different factors that can have an impact on retirement.
  • Explore your own retirement plan. Describe where you are on the  planning process. What is the stage of retirement that you current are  at?
  • Explain the factors that you would consider while planning your retirement.
  • Describe how increasing numbers of retirees will affect retirement patterns.
  • Compare retirement conditions in the United States to another country of your choice.
  • Explain the techniques that other countries are planning for the new retirees’ influx.

Observational Study Designs – 2025

Observational Study Designs

A clinical pediatric nurse has noticed a rise in childhood cancer diagnoses among the Hispanic population served by the local clinic. The nurse is concerned about this increase in cancer incidence in the patient population and turns to the literature to explore current research on this topic. The nurse finds through the reading that there appears to be an association between parental smoking and childhood cancer and wonders if this could be the cause of the rise in cases.

This type of suspected association between a risk factor (exposure) and a particular outcome (childhood cancer) can be evaluated using an observational study design. This week, you were introduced to observational study designs used in epidemiology. For this Discussion, you will identify an epidemiologic association of interest (e.g., smoking and lung cancer, obesity and heart disease, hormone replacement/modification therapy and breast cancer) and determine an appropriate observational study design for exploring that association.

To prepare:

  • Review      the different types of observational study designs presented in the      Learning Resources: ecologic, cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort.
  • Carefully      examine the characteristics, strengths, and limitations of each design.
  • Consider      an association between a risk factor and a particular health outcome that      is of interest to you. Then, select the observational study design you      think would be the most appropriate for exploring this association.
  • Consider      how using observational study designs can lead to improvements in      population health.

By tomorrow 03/14/2018 12 noon, write a minimum of 550 words in APA format with at least 3 scholarly references from the list of required readings below. Include the level one headings as numbered below:

Post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

1) Identify the association between the risk factor and health outcome you selected and suggest which observational study design you feel is most appropriate for examining that association.

2) Support your selection of the observational design, noting its strengths and limitations for addressing the health problem.

3) What might you be able to learn by using your selected study design that might lead to improvements in population health? Support your response with evidence from the literature.

Chapter 6, “Study Designs: Ecologic, Cross-Sectional, Case Control”

Chapter 7, “Study Designs: Cohort Studies”

Chapter 6 presents an overview of analytic study designs used in epidemiology, differentiating between experimental studies (which will be addressed next week) and observational studies (the focus of this week). In the chapter, the authors address three varieties of observational studies—ecological, cross-sectional, and case control. Chapter 7 addresses cohort studies, another form of observational design.

A consortium of scientists and medical researchers created a checklist of 22 recommended items that should be included in reports about three common observational study designs: case-control, cohort, and cross-sectional studies. This collaborative effort is an important step toward the goal of improving the quality, credibility, and generalizability of analytical research.
