Unit 10 Assignment – 2025

Self-Directed Learning Plan (SDLP)

Purpose:

It’s important to develop your professional goals and how you achieve them in this course and your chosen program.

Directions:

After exploring the course description, course outcomes, and unit themes and outcomes, complete your SDLP for your professional objectives and create a Skill Market pertinent to an opportunity with an employer found in your week 8 learning activity.

What did you expect to learn in this course and what do you expect to learn in your program that will help you achieve your academic and professional goals? You are encouraged to reflect earnestly about how the course content and experience might serve your goals, as well as about what you might proactively do throughout your program to develop in your target areas.

If you have determined there are additional areas from which you would benefit, or areas you would like to replace, this is a good time to do so. Remember, this is your learning plan, so design it to help you achieve your unique goals.

Learning Plan

  1. Identify your anticipated nursing role.
  2. List your professional goals (3–5 years from now).
  3. Identify the Knowledge, Skills, and Accomplishments needed for the advanced nursing role that you have identified above. A minimum of three items should be listed for each of the Knowledge, Skills, and Accomplishments.
  4. Discuss at least three Strengths to Leverage. Complete steps 1, 2, and 3 of the template for Strengths to Leverage.
  5. Discuss at least one Area to Develop. Complete steps 1, 2, and 3 of the template for Areas to Develop.
  6. Write a reflection that discusses what you learned in this course and expect to learn in your program that will help you achieve your academic and professional goals. Provide an evaluation of how your SDLP can provide for lifelong learning. The reflection should be a minimum of 300 words.

You must submit the Unit 10 SDLP Assignment using the SDLP Template. You should not submit a written paper for the Unit 10 SDLP Assignment. If you have references to support your SDLP then you should add a heading References at the end of the SDLP Template and add the references in APA format. You do not need to have a title page for this assignment.

This Assignment will be partially graded based on evidence of thoughtful development of your SDLP.

Skill Market

What is it?

Skill marketing is the art or practice of proactively shopping yourself to employers, tailored specifically to each position you apply for. This allows you to speak directly to the position you are applying for and why you are qualified for the role. This should be limited to no more than two paragraphs and can be used in your Cover Letter more formally.

What to include:

  • The position you are applying for, the skills that qualify you, including education, military experience, volunteer work, clinical rotations, civilian work experience, and both hard and soft skills.

When to use:

  • You are reaching out to contact via LinkedIn
  • You are submitting a resume via email to a company that you are interested in, but may not have listed openings at this time
  • You’re submitting a resume via email
  • As a part of a “thank you” or follow-up letter after an interview
  • Anytime you want to illustrate a correlation between what the employer is seeking, and what you have to offer

Nursing Disaster Planning – 2025 Scenario You are the PHN working at your local public health department

Nursing Assignment Help

Nursing Disaster Planning – 2025

Scenario: You are the PHN working at your local public health department in the nursing division. It is the middle of summer, and you have been receiving telephone calls asking about “the flu season” since the vaccine wasn’t accurate in predicting the strains of influenza that affected your community last year, and many people contracted the virus. Business and community leaders are concerned because they don’t want a repeat performance of last year. You have been asked to develop some solutions to community concerns.

Select two of the following scenarios and respond to the questions that are posed in each. As you consider the scenarios you have selected, think about the following considerations as you develop your responses.

  • Which agencies are available to lead and assist in the disaster response?
  • What resources are available in your community?
  • How might resources be used most efficiently?
  • Are there any gaps that may pose a problem?
  • Identify potential strengths and weaknesses in the community

Scenario 1: Imagine that initial pandemic flu cases have been identified in your jurisdiction. Some people are home sick, and others are staying home fearful that they may become infected with the flu. What advice would you give to local business owners to prepare for this event? Name two actions that business owners can take to keep their businesses open.

Scenario 1, Part B. As incidents of influenza continue to rise, local business owners are worried about loss of revenue if several large planned conventions are forced to cancel due to the flu. What advice can you give these business owners? Should all events be cancelled?

Scenario 2: Disease rates are rising, and estimates are that as many as 20% of the population are ill with confirmed influenza. Several businesses have closed and services have been suspended. What advice would you give to local law enforcement officials so they can continue to serve the needs of the people? Describe two actions that law enforcement workers can take to remain on the job. How will the gaps in personnel created by those who are ill be covered by those who are still well? What advice will you give?

Scenario 3: Disease rates are remaining at 20% of the population, and many schools have closed due to teacher absence. Since parents still have to work if they are not sick with the flu, what advice can you give day care providers? What two ideas can you share with them so they can stay open and able to care for the children of working parents? Should all school sporting events be cancelled? What information should parents be given? Should announcements be given daily?

Scenario 4: The numbers of influenza victims has reached 25% of the population. Many of the large grocery stores in your community are short-staffed due to employee sick calls. Shelves are bare since many of the workers are home with the flu, and even if the storeowner could stock the shelves, cashiers are home sick, too. In-store pharmacists are struggling to keep their pharmacies open to serve the public. Consumables like bread and milk are in short supply since many delivery drivers are home sick. What two actions can you recommend to these storeowners so that your community doesn’t suffer?

Scenario 5: With 25% of the total population sick with influenza, your hospital is short of staff at a time of very high census. While many of the administrative positions are unaffected by illness, at least 40% of the nurses have called in sick or are at home caring for very sick children. Name two recommendations that you can give your hospital administration to keep their services available for the community.

Scenario 6: The community is turning to the Health Department for assistance because reported incidents of influenza have risen from 5% of the population to 10% of the population in a matter of days. What is your first response to this situation? What steps will you take? Where will you start?

By Day 3

Post your response to this Discussion.

Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature.

Notes Initial Post: This should be a 3-paragraph (at least 350 words) response. Be sure to use evidence from the readings and include in-text citations. Utilize essay-level writing practice and skills, including the use of transitional material and organizational frames. Avoid quotes; paraphrase to incorporate evidence into your own writing. A reference list is required. Use the most current evidence (usually ≤ 5 years old).

Part 1:

Change proposal Issue:  Infection control and prevention in University Plaza Nursing and Rehabilitation center

Topics: cleaning and desinfection; standard precaution and cross contamination

Stakeholder support is necessary for a successful project implementation. Consider your internal stakeholders, such as the facility, unit, or health care setting where the change proposal is being considered, and your external stakeholders, like an individual or group outside the health care setting.

1. Why is their support necessary to the success of your change proposal, and how you will go about securing that support?

Part 2:

change proposal Issue:  Infection control and prevention in University Plaza Nursing and Rehabilitation center

Topics: cleaning and desinfection; standard precaution and cross contamination

Technology is integral to successful implementation in many projects, through either support or integration or both.

1. Name at least one technology that could improve the implementation process and the outcomes of your capstone project change proposal.

2. Do you plan to use this technology? If not, what are the barriers that prevent its use?

Part 3:

1. Describe the characteristics of the aging process.

2. Explain how some of the characteristics may lead to elder abuse (memory issues, vulnerability, etc.).

3. Discuss the types of consideration a nurse must be mindful of while performing a health assessment on a geriatric patient as compared to a middle-aged adult.

Part 4:

End-of-life care becomes an issue at some point for elderly clients. Even with the emergence of palliative care programs and hospice programs, most elderly people do not die in their own home as is their preference.

1. What are the reasons for this trend?

2. Discuss what you can do as a nurse to support your clients regarding end-of-life care in accordance with their wishes.

Support your response with evidence-based literature.

Part 5:

A 41-year-old obese male patient is diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF). He is told to begin a moderate exercise routine with a healthy diet and is prescribed several medications — including a diuretic.

  1. Based on your knowledge of the kidney and the disease of CHF, what factors would be important in selecting a specific diuretic? How would you explain to this patient how it works?
  2. If this patient developed a disease that caused the renal blood flow to be diminished, how might this impact the medication he is taking for his congestive heart failure? As his health care provider, how would you change his treatment in this situation?

Part 6:

Post your cost comparison document from Unit 2 (See file 1). Assuming you might prescribe this drug for your patient

1. How would you minimize cost or assist the patient in getting the medication at the lowest cost possible.

2. What resources are available to reduce drug costs?

3. Find at least 2 resources for free or reduced cost medications and describe them.

 Part 7:

Polypharmacy is defined as being on 5 or more medicines, and is a major concern for providers as the use of multiple medicines is common in the older population with multimorbidity, and as one or more medicines may be used to treat each condition.

1. Discuss two (2) common risk factors for polypharmacy. Give rationale for each identified risk factor.

2. Discuss two interventions you can take as a Nurse Practitioner in your clinical practice to prevent polypharmacy and its complications.

Part 8:

Integrated care involves a team of primary care, dental, and behavioral health practitioners working together using a systematic, cost-effective approach to patient care.

After the reading the following HRSA Report:

https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/hrsa/advisory-committees/primarycare-dentist/reports/actpcmd-14-report.pdf

Discuss what are the 4 main recommendations given on this report and the rationales for each one (See File 2).

Part 9:

CS/SB 614 authorizes an ARNP to prescribe, dispense, administer, or order any drug, which would include controlled substances.

ARNP disciplinary sanctions are added to the bill in s. 456.072, F.S., (Section 5) to mirror a physician’s sanctions for prescribing or dispensing a controlled substance other in the course of professional practice or failing to meet practice standards. Additional acts for which discipline may be taken against an ARNP relating to practicing with controlled substances that are added to the Nurse Practice Act (Section 10) include:

 Presigning blank prescription forms.

Nursing Assignment Help

Literature Evaluation Table – 2025

In nursing practice, accurate identification and application of research is essential to achieving successful outcomes. The ability to articulate research data and summarize relevant content supports the student’s ability to further develop and synthesize the assignments that constitute the components of the capstone project.

The assignment will be used to develop a written implementation plan.

For this assignment, provide a synopsis of the review of the research literature. Using the “Literature Evaluation Table,” determine the level and strength of the evidence for each of the eight research articles you have selected. The articles should be current (within the last 5 years) and closely relate to the PICOT question developed earlier in this course. The articles may include quantitative research, descriptive analyses, longitudinal studies, or meta-analysis articles. A systematic review may be used to provide background information for the purpose or problem identified in the proposed capstone project.
