Purpose 

The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student an opportunity to reflect on the weekly concepts learned in the course.

Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

Childhood psychosis is extremely rare; however, children that present with psychosis must be carefully assessed and evaluated with appropriate interviewing of parent, child, and use of assessment tools.

For this Assignment, as you examine the client case study in this week’s Learning Resources, consider how you might assess and treat clients presenting with early onset schizophrenia.

 Module 05 Assignment – Teamwork and Organizational Customer 

Effective patient care, safety, and experience is dependent upon the work and effort of numerous healthcare departments and workers including but not limited to medical practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, medical laboratory technicians, coding and billing specialists, and medical administrative assistants. Proper communication, respect, and teamwork is necessary for a clinic to operate efficiently and effectively.

Please read the following patient scenario:

You witnessed a coworker’s (Michael – who works in your department) interaction with another coworker, Flora, who works in a different department. Michael was very rude, disrespectful, and mad because he was arguing that Flora didn’t communicate important patient information to your department and caused a patient to have an extended wait time. Flora was obviously disturbed and hurt by this interaction and you know it wasn’t her fault, but rather Michael’s.

Please discuss the following concepts in 1-2 pages:

• Identify and briefly describe two issues or concepts associated with the breakdown of teamwork in this scenario.
• How would you use internal customer service skills, tools, and techniques to resolve this issue?
• How can good and poor internal customer service affect patient experience and outcomes?

The name of the file should be your first initial and last name, followed by an underscore and the name of the assignment, and an underscore and the date. An example is shown below:

1. Identify a clinical topic and related nursing practice issue you think needs to be changed. 
2. Locate a systematic review on your topic from the CCN Library databases. Be sure this involves nursing actions.
3. Work through each step of the ACE Star Model as outlined on the assignment form (Star Points 1-5: Discovery, Summary, Translation, Implementation, and Evaluation). Respond to the instructions provided on the form.
4. Follow the activities and thinking of Nurse Daniel in Weeks 1-6 in the ‘Illustration’ part of each lesson. He will be working through a clinical topic and nursing practice issue to demonstrate a change (ACE Star Model and systematic review).
5. Work on a portion of the process each week, as the illustration unfolds.

In the media introduction to this module, it was suggested that you as a nurse have an important role in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). With a focus on patient care and outcomes, nurses may not always see themselves as contributors to the development of new systems. However, as you may have observed in your own experience, exclusion of nurse contributions when implementing systems can have dire consequences.

In this Discussion, you will consider the role you might play in systems development and the ramifications of not being an active participant in systems development.

To Prepare:

• Review the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as presented in the Resources.
• Reflect on your own healthcare organization and consider any steps your healthcare organization goes through when purchasing and implementing a new health information technology system.
• Consider what a nurse might contribute to decisions made at each stage of the SDLC when planning for new health information technology.

Homework:- Post a 3 Paragraph description of what you believe to be the consequences of a healthcare organization not involving nurses in each stage of the SDLC when purchasing and implementing a new health information technology system. Provide specific examples of potential issues at each stage of the SDLC and explain how the inclusion of nurses may help address these issues. Then, explain whether you had any input in the selection and planning of new health information technology systems in your nursing practice or healthcare organization and explain potential impacts of being included or not in the decision-making process. Be specific and provide examples.
