As you establish your goals and objectives for this course, you are committing to an organized plan that will frame your practicum experience in a clinical setting, including planned activities, assessment, and achievement of defined outcomes. In particular, they must address the categories of clinical reasoning, quality in your clinical specialty, and interpersonal collaborative practice. 

For this Assignment, you will consider the areas you aim to focus on to gain practical experience as an advanced practice nurse. Then, you will develop a Practicum Experience Plan (PEP) containing the objectives you will fulfill in order to achieve your aims. For this practicum experience, be sure to develop goals and objectives that allow you to synthesize knowledge and skills related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. 

To Prepare

• Review your Clinical Skills Self-Assessment Form you submitted last week and think about areas for which you would like to gain application-level experience and/or continued growth as an advanced practice nurse. How can your experiences in the practicum help you achieve these aims?  
• Review the information related to developing objectives provided in this week’s Learning Resources. Your practicum learning objectives that you want to achieve during your practicum experience must be: 
  • Specific  
  • Measurable  
  • Attainable  
  • Results-focused  
  • Time-bound 
  • Reflective of the higher-order domains of Bloom’s taxonomy (i.e., application level and above)  
• Discuss your professional aims and your proposed practicum objectives with your Preceptor to ascertain if the necessary resources are available at your practicum site.  
• Select one nursing theory and one counseling/psychotherapy theory to best guide your clinical practice. Explain why you selected these theories. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.
• Create a timeline of practicum activities that demonstrates how you plan to meet these goals and objectives based on your practicum requirements.

Initial Post Instructions
For the initial post, select and address one of the following options:

Option 1: Choose a work to discuss from one genre that interprets a work from another genre.

• Include the title, artist, and description of both works.
• Examine how the artist of the second work captured the subject or story of the first.
• Support your point(s) with a statement from the second artist that discusses the influence, reasoning, or interpretation of the original work on the second work.

Option 2: Choose a work that is interdisciplinary (incorporates two or more disciplines), such as Hamilton from our lesson this week.

• Include the title and artist(s).
• Examine the genres that are intermingled to create the work.
• How effective is the blending of genres in the work?
• Why do you think the artist used different disciplines in the work?
• Support your point(s) with a statement from the artist and one from a critic.

Option 3: Choose a work of art from any genre that depicts or tells the story of a real life event from any time period, such as The Consecration of the Emperor Napoleon and the Coronation of Empress Joséphine on December 2, 1804 by Jacques Louis David.

• Include the title and the artist and some background of the event.
• What is the relationship between the work of art and the event?
• Did the artist depict the event accurately?
• Does the artist make changes regarding the event? If so, why do you think the artist made these changes?
• Examine the artist’s message in the depiction.
• Support your point(s) with a statement from the artist.

Follow-Up Post Instructions
Respond to at least one peer. Further the dialogue by providing more information and clarification.

Writing Requirements

• Minimum of 2 posts (1 initial & 1 follow-up)
• Minimum of 2 sources cited (assigned readings/online lessons and an outside source)

   Conceptual-Theoretical-Empirical Structure (CTE) Evaluation Assignment

Details:

Conceptual models, theories, and empirical indicators are linked and provide a nursing knowledge system to apply the model or theory to nursing practice, research, and education. Advanced-practice nurses are required to understand the linkages as applied to nursing and translate the components into practice.  To continue development of nursing knowledge, advanced practice nurses can create structure to test theory. 

 

General Guidelines:

•This assignment requires that at least three additional scholarly research articles related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.

•You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

 

Directions:

Write a 1,200-1500 word paper examining how the Conceptual – Theoretical – Empirical (CTE) structure translates into nursing practice based on one of the middle range theories that has been formulated or derived from your preferred conceptual model of nursing. Translate and apply the selected theory to nursing practice using actual examples. Evaluate the theory using the CTE steps below:

1.Evaluation of the conceptual-theoretical-empirical linkages.

2.Evaluation of the selected theory.

3.Evaluation of the empirical indicators.

4.Evaluation of research findings.

5.Evaluation of the utility and soundness of the practice theory.

 

 

Regards

A 52-year-old African American male presents to an urgent care center complaining of urinary frequency and nocturia. The symptoms have been present for several months and have increased in frequency over the past week. He has been unable to sleep because of the need to urinate at least hourly all day and night. He does not have a primary care provider and has not seen a doctor in more than 10 years. His father died when he was a child in an automobile accident, and his mother is 79 years old and has hypertension. The patient has no siblings. His social history includes the following: banker by profession, divorced father of two grown children, non-smoker, and occasionally consumes alcohol on weekends only.
