Can you imagine an athlete deciding to run a marathon without training for the event? Most ambitious people who have set this goal will follow a specific training plan that will allow them to feel confident and prepared on the big day. Similarly, if you want to feel confident and prepared for your certification exam, you should create and follow a plan that will thoroughly prepare you for success.

In this Assignment, you will review the study plan that you developed in NRNP 6665, and revise your plan as necessary, which will serve as the road map for you to follow to attain your certification.

To Prepare

• Reflect on the study plan you created in NRNP 6665. Did you accomplish your SMART goals? What areas of focus still present opportunities for growth?

The Assignment

• Revise your study plan summarizing your current strengths and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop 3–4 new SMART goals for this quarter and the tasks you need to complete to accomplish each goal. Include a timetable for accomplishing them and a description of how you will measure your progress.
• Describe resources you would use to accomplish your goals and tasks, such as ways to participate in a study group or review course, mnemonics and other mental strategies, and print or online resources you could use to study.

Deliver to the interprofessional team a presentation (20 minutes; 12-15 slides) that analyzes an existing workplace quality improvement initiative related to a specific disease, condition, or public health issue of interest. The presentation’s purpose is to inform and get buy-in from the interprofessional team.  

Too often, discussions about quality health care, care costs, and outcome measures take place in isolation—various groups talking among themselves about results and enhancements. Nurses are critical to the delivery of high-quality, efficient health care. As a result, they must develop their skills in reviewing and evaluating performance reports. They also need to be able to communicate outcome measures related to quality initiatives effectively. Patient safety and positive institutional health care outcomes mandate collaboration among nursing staff members to ensure the integration of their perspectives in all quality care initiatives.

In this assessment, you will have the opportunity to analyze a quality improvement initiative in your workplace. You will then present your analysis to a group of nurses and other health care professionals. The purpose of your presentation is to inform and enlist support for the initiative from your audience.

Preparation

Quality Initiative Selection

In this assessment you will deliver an analysis of an ongoing quality improvement initiative in your workplace. The initiative you analyze must relate to a specific disease, condition, or public health issue of personal or professional interest to you. The purpose of your analysis is to assess whether specific quality indicators point to improved patient safety, quality of care, cost and efficiency goals, and other desired metrics. Your audience consists of nurses and selected health care professionals with specializations or interest in your selected condition, disease, or issue. You hope to inform and garner support for the initiative from your audience. (*please include speaker notes)

  The optional QI Initiative Evaluation Presentation Template [PPTX] is provided to help you prepare your slides. If you choose to work without the template, consider referring to Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations [PPTX]. (attached)
  In your presentation, you will:
• Analyze a current quality improvement initiative in a health care or practice setting according to strategic organizational initiatives. 
  • Explain the rationale behind the QI improvement initiative. What prompted the initiative? 
  • Detail problems that were not addressed and any issues that arose from the initiative.
• Evaluate the success of a current quality improvement initiative according to recognized national benchmarks. 
  • Analyze the benchmarks used to evaluate success. Which aspects of the initiative were most successful?  What outcome measures are missing or could be added?
  • Incorporate one appropriate supporting visual (such as a graph or chart) that showcases the most critical aspect of this presentation.
• Incorporate interprofessional perspectives related to initiative functionality and outcomes.
• Integrate the perspectives of interprofessional team members involved in the initiative. Who did you talk to? What are their professions?  How did their perspectives impact your analysis?
• Recommend additional indicators and protocols to improve and expand outcomes of a quality initiative. 
  • Identify specific process or protocol changes as well as technologies that would improve quality outcomes.
• Communicate the QI initiative evaluation in a professional, effective manner that engages the interprofessional stakeholders to implement and sustain change.
• Use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and APA style for scholarly citations and references.
• Additional Requirements
• Presentation length: A maximum of 20 minutes.
• Number of slides: 12–15 slides. Balance text and visuals. Avoid text-heavy slides. Use speaker’s notes for additional content.
• Font and font size: Appropriate size and weight for presentation, generally 24–28 points for headings; no smaller than 18 points for bullet-point text. Use a suitable professional typeface such as Times or Arial throughout the presentation.
• Number of references: Cite a minimum of 7 current scholarly and/or authoritative sources to support your analysis. Current is defined as no older than 5 years unless a seminal work.

Initial Post Instructions
Select a work of art from any of the chapters in our textbook, and write a response that analyzes the art through the lens of a descriptive critic, an interpretive critic, and an evaluative critic. What different things would these critics have to say? Use the following guidelines:

• Descriptive Critic: Address at least 3 different elements of art and/or principles of design.
• Interpretive Critic: This will require research so that you can understand the subject, meaning, and intent of the work.
• Evaluative Critic: Use the standards of perfection, insight, and inexhaustibility (as described in the text).

Follow-Up Post Instructions
Respond to at least one peer. Further the dialogue by providing more information and clarification. Provide feedback on whether you agree or disagree with their criticism. Explain why. Build on their posts by providing additional insight of your own. If your peer selected the same artwork as you, make sure to address new point or develop existing points in more depth.

Write for your organization a 3–5-page impact report regarding the health concerns of a new immigrant population. Describe the population’s health concerns and issues, explain current pharmacological treatments, and explain how culture and traditional practices may affect use of pharmacology. Identify evidence-based strategies for the organization and nursing staff to use to educate the population and promote health and wellness.

Assessment Instructions 

Imagine the county health department notifies your organization that a large number of immigrants are expected to be resettled in your area. The organization, wanting to be prepared to handle any health concerns of the population, tasks each department with readying for the influx of immigrants. Your supervisor asks you to prepare an impact report on the pharmacological needs of the population that can be shared with other departments.

Preparation

Complete the following as you prepare for your impact report:

1. Choose one of the global areas below as the area from which the population will be coming.      
   • Sub-Saharan Africa.
   • India.
   • China.
   • Dominican Republic.
   • Guatemala.
   • Jamaica.
   • Bangladesh.
   • Saudi Arabia.
   • Pakistan.
   • Mexico.
2. Research the most common health concerns and issues for immigrants from your chosen global area, the pharmacological treatments that will likely be prescribed, and any cultural values or traditional practices that may impact patient outcomes.

Requirements

Once you have identified the population you will be using for this assessment, include the following in your impact report:

• Describe the health concerns and issues for the population.
• Describe current pharmacological treatment regimens for the main health concerns and issues.
• Explain any traditional beliefs and practices associated with the health concerns and issues. Does the population engage in culturally based methods of treating the health concern?
• Explain how cultural values and traditional practices might affect acceptance and use of prescribed pharmacological treatments. Be sure to consider the relationship between quality patient outcomes, patient safety, and the appropriate use of pharmacology.
• Identify evidence-based, culturally sensitive strategies the organization can use to educate the population about the correct use of the pharmacology treatments.
• Identify evidence-based, culturally sensitive strategies the nursing staff can employ with the population to promote health and wellness.

Write this assessment as an impact report formatted as other reports of a similar nature in your organization or an organization with which you are familiar. Include a title page and reference page and follow APA guidelines for your in-text citations and references.

The growth, development, and learned behaviors that occur during the   first year of infancy have a direct effect on the individual   throughout a lifetime. For this assignment, research an environmental   factor that poses a threat to the health or safety of infants and   develop a health promotion that can be presented to caregivers.

Create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint health promotion, with speaker   notes, that outlines a teaching plan. For the presentation of your   PowerPoint, use Loom to create a voice over or a video. Include an   additional slide for the Loom link at the beginning, and an additional   slide for references at the end.

Include the following in your presentation:

1. Describe the selected environmental factor. Explain how the     environmental factor you selected can potentially affect the health     or safety of infants.
2. Create a health promotion plan that     can be presented to caregivers to address the environmental factor     and improve the overall health and well-being of infants.
3. Offer recommendations on accident prevention and safety     promotion as they relate to the selected environmental factor and     the health or safety of infants.
4. Offer examples,     interventions, and suggestions from evidence-based research. At     least three scholarly resources are required. Two of the three     resources must be peer-reviewed and no more than 6 years old.
5. Provide readers with two community resources, a national     resource, and a Web-based resource. Include a brief description and     contact information for each resource.
6. In developing your     PowerPoint, take into consideration the health care literacy level     of your target audience, as well as the demographic of the     caregiver/patient (socioeconomic level, language, culture, and any     other relevant characteristic of the caregiver) for which the     presentation is tailored
