Using at least 4 current (within the past 5 years), relevant, peer-reviewed resources, create a literature review that does the following:

• Describes the project’s topic, resources reviewed, and      conclusions of each article.
• Summarizes the principal findings of the research and      their relevance to the project’s proposed outcomes.

This paper should be at least 2 pages in length and include a cover page and reference page with links to all researched articles. Be sure to use APA format.

Each week you will be expected to provide the following information to your community practice instructor through your journal entries:

1. What are your upcoming week’s specific learning goals and objectives?
2. What is your upcoming week’s detailed schedule at your community practice experience placement?
3. Were there any placement items/issues that occurred this week that you feel your instructor should be aware of that are private in nature and are more appropriately shared here than in the discussion board with your classmates?
4. Give a brief description of an objective you worked on this week. Make sure to cite at least one reference showing how your objective relates to the public health knowledge you’ve studied during this course or the public health course. You may choose to reference your e-text, journal articles, or videos you’ve studied during these courses or you may find an outside reference on your own to further enhance your public health knowledge and practices.

Remember, your journal entries are an important aspect of clinical learning as they serve to help you reflect upon and get the most out of your community practice experience. Therefore, your journal entry should include the who, what, where, and when of your community practice experience. Remember, this should simulate a dialogue that would normally take place face-to-face with your community practice experience instructor.

Thank you so much for your thoughts on disaster preparedness, I think you made good point in regards to our discussion. In addition, Public health nurses display a fundamental part in meeting the National Preparedness Goal. We must prepare ourselves and demonstrate our abilities as a public servant to help our communities during disaster preparedness, response, and recovery tasks. In addition, we must be able to show self-control and exercise to be calm when we are confronted with an emergency situation. Finally, we cannot forget in any circumstance that our ultimate goal is to prevent disease, protect and promote the health care of our communities. By using all our knowledge and resources available we can better serve the population. With all of this we have time to deal with any type of natural disaster. In 2013, American Public Health Association showed that Public health nurses are educated about the different public resources that are accessible, and also what crevices may exist in in community facilities, previously, during and subsequently a disaster. It is critical that PHN attendants comprehend and advance their catastrophe abilities as individuals from the general wellbeing and health care team group and before, during, and after the occurrence.

A disaster scenario, other than the one that we are currently living in, is a hurricane.  This natural disaster can be ravaging on communities and the people living within the affected areas.  There are several disaster preparedness steps that people should take.  These steps include the following: making a plan of evacuation, where all family members will know where to go and will have bags packed of their necessities to take with them; placing boards over the exterior of the home over the windows and doors; installing storm shutters on the windows; moving the cars into the garage (if the house has one); powering up with external generators and other backups; unplugging appliances; storing important documents in safe places; having extra food and water handy (in case they are trapped in their homes during and after the hurricane); and having at least seven days of medicine in the house (III.org, 2020).

These disaster preparation steps relate to the nursing process by educating the people in the community on the disaster planning that will help to keep them and their family members safe.  The nurse can also inform patients on what they can do to help maintain their health in the wake of a hurricane so that they know what to do, who to call with questions, or where to go for help in the event that injuries or damages are suffered from the hurricane and help is needed.

It is a great post! I like how you explained the importance of organizational support and nurses’ role of  a patient advocacy. It is so true that organizational support empowers nurses to speak and act for the right of the patients. Physician’s support for the nurses to participate in the patient family meeting in order to inform on patient condition and the hospital’s support to manage adequate staffing facilitates nurses to work in a less stressful environment allowing them to contribute enough time for patient advocacy.

     Hospice is a type of care that is for terminally ill patients that have six months or less to live.I feel that one patient right that is not fully implemented is patient rights. The patient has the right to his or her care and choices for live sustaining treatment. I feel this can be jeopardized because sometimes family members may want to choose treatment or plans for their loved ones however the patient may not always want the medication or treatment the family members want. So I think it is important to always get the patient’s perspective of what they want for their care and maybe have them alone in the room without family around. As nurses we are to advocate for our patients and support them through their journey. Therefore hospice patients typically get pain management medications but some patients may not want to take them. As a nurse we are to stand by their side and agree with their choices. In the patient’s care environment we are supposed to provide an environment with caring, compassion, quiet, and safe place. By advocating for a patient we are able to do this.As nurses we can definitely assist in protecting our patient right by advocating speaking up for patients and sticking by their side.

Section 5: Budgeting and Timeline Tools

Consider which tools (e.g., Revenue Projection Model, Capital Budgeting Analysis, Depreciation Calculator, Profit and Loss Projection) would be most useful for developing your Strategic Plan.  

Use the Program Evaluation Review Technique (PERT) tool or another tool to analyze and represent the activities that need to be completed to successfully plan and implement your proposed change. Be sure to note dependencies (e.g., a task/milestone that must be completed in order to trigger the next step) and realistically assess the minimum time needed to complete the entire project.   

Write a 1- to 2-page description of your budget and timeline for your Strategic Plan. In your description: 

• Provide an analysis of the financial impact of your Strategic Plan. Provide visual support (e.g., tables, charts, screenshots of Excel worksheets) for your financial analysis directly within your template. 
• Provide a timeline for the implementation of your proposed change using PERT or another timeline tool. Consider how your timeline can allow leeway for variance. 

Section 6: Balanced Scorecard

Conceptualize a balanced scorecard that could be used to measure and evaluate the impact of your planned change on performance and determine if the costs are justified in terms of the outcomes. Consider what you would measure in terms of finances, customers, internal process, and learning and growth. Think about how you would gather valid and reliable data. 

To complete: 

• Create a balanced scorecard for your Strategic Plan issue. Directly provide the diagram/image for your balanced scorecard in your submission. (To do this you may create the diagram in the template using Word SmartArt, or you may create it with an outside diagramming tool of your choice and copy and paste a screenshot of the image into your template.)
• Then, in 1–2 pages, explain how your balanced scorecard could be used to measure and evaluate the impact of the planned change and how it could be used to determine if the outcomes justify the project costs.
