An indicator is a variable used to measure progress towards the stated goals, objectives and targets of the plan, allowing managers to assess progress towards benchmarks. It is a specific measure of plan performance that is tracked over time by the monitoring system.

The needs of the pediatric patient differ depending on age, as do the stages of development and the expected assessment findings for each stage.Examine the needs of a school-aged child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old and discuss the following:

Upon examination, he is diagnosed with a virus that is currently prevalent in the area he works. He is told to rest and drink liquids until the virus has run its course. He becomes irate and tells you he wants an antibiotic.
