Case Study 8 – 2025

Case Study, Chapter 8, Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and the Registered Nurse

The increased use of unlicensed assistive personnel presents both opportunities and challenges for the American health care system. The nurse manager has to deal with the challenge that unlicensed assistive personnel only be used to provide personal care needs or nursing tasks that do not require the skill and judgment of the RN.

1. The nurse manager reviews the national effort to define the scope of practice for unlicensed assistive personnel. In 2007, the American Nurses Association made recommendations for a national and/or state policy for nursing assistive personnel. What are the six actions that should be taken to create a national and/or state policy agenda about the educational preparation of unlicensed assistive personnel and the competencies they should have for safe practice?

2. The need in health care today is for today’s nurses to have highly developed delegation skills in working effectively and efficiently with unlicensed assistive personnel. This is critical to ensure the clients’ needs are met and their safety is not jeopardized. What are the key general principles that the nurse manager needs to review with professional registered nurses in delegating to unlicensed assistive personnel?

3 paragraph of at least 4 sentences. 2 cited sources not older than 2015

There are many factors a person can consider that young males could hear and help improve overall health. One for example and the most simple one is the use of protection during sex or contraception. Having unsafe sex contributes to the decreased health of women and children, it could be the woman having problems with birth or lack of support necessary to be able to support a newborn baby and the same goes for a baby, they need a lot of time and effort and sometimes unsafe sex leads to unwanted children and so the baby will receive not receive the support or attention needed to be cared for properly. Understanding how important it is to be safe and using protection could help again the decreased health of these groups and would benefit a lot. Something else young males can learn to improve overall health is to understand the negative effects of drugs and alcohol use, drug use is something that affects the world and many people aren’t educated on how harmful it can really be. To ask for no use of these harmful drugs is not what I am asking for but instead to educate young males and others to understand what it is they are doing and in educating them on the negatives hopefully they can see how important it is to take care of yourself and those around them and they could lower their usage or even stop entirely if possible to unhealthy addictions. The third and final factor that young males and even most teenagers and adults could address is the lack of physical activity that leads to obesity. Simply exercising a little would help towards fixing some issues and of course not all of them but it is a big step towards working together to achieve the goal of overall health.

Restraints ethical and legal considerations in children/ adolescent and adults

Restraints can only be used only if absolutely necessary when harm to self, others, or staff is preventative and cannot be used for the convenience of

staff in any case and is considered a physical device that restricts movements and can be chemical (Medcom, 2008). Restraints must be ordered by a

physician or independent practitioners and cannot exceed 4 hours for adults, 2 hours for 9-17 years of age, and 2 hours for ages 8 or less with the ability to

be renewed up to 24 hours until a face to face examination is done and a new order in place (APA, 2008). In a recent study on adolescents being restrained

the risk factor for the restrained adolescents were found to be primarily female gender with low psychosocial functioning with more and longer admissions

and concomitant use of pharmacological restraints (Furre et al, 2017). Restraints in the elderly are three times greater related to the higher hospitalization

rate secondary to their affliction by different chronic conditions, along with their higher risk for fall or injury to self or others (Sharifi et al, 2020). Legal and

ethical consideration for all age groups is of high importance when using restraints of any kind and can have implications to the practitioner if not used with

high considerations and constant supervision with reevaluation ongoing. Three considerations legally and ethically when using restraint in a setting is the

staff and admitted patients adequately supported and supervised at this time, the numbers of staff working should adequately reflect the number of

admissions at any given time, and thirdly during the admission process police and psychiatric staff should cooperate to ensure that the admission proceeds

safely for staff and patient, and stay until it is established that the referral was appropriate.

Topic: Influence of Physical Exercise on Mental Health

These are the instructions

8.      Limitations & Implications

a.      Limitations 1: databases, keywords, language, time of publication, peer-reviewed studies, limited sources, access to full text

b.      Limitations 2: topic, samples used in outside sources

c.      Implications on the outcomes/results

d.      One well developed paragraph

Note: This is an example (it is not related to my topic, it is just an example).

Limitations and Implications ( example)

This study suffered some limitations. First, no laboratory study to measure whether the patient has IBS or not was found. The diagnosis of IBS was based on a patient’s subjective report about their symptoms The patient had to undergo several tests to rule out that the patient did not have other diseases; thus, according to the signs and symptoms, the doctor then diagnosed whether s/he suffered from IBS. It is for this reason that in the articles investigated, the researcher only found qualitative information offered by patients based on their symptoms. Secondly, the articles analyzed used small samples in their investigations, so the results obtained were verified on a small scale.

Disparity Found In The Asian American Or Native American Communities. – 2025

*Perform an academic search and locate articles from peer-reviewed journals that discuss a health disparity found in the Asian American and Native American communities. Discuss your findings and the impact APNs can make to eliminate these disparities.

Make 2 post one for  Asian Americans and the other for Native American communities.  Both responses should be a minimum of 200 words each one , scholarly written, APA formatted, and referenced.  A minimum of 2 references are required (other than your text).

Introduction

According to the 2010 US census, the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is made up of about 18.2 million people or 3.6% of the population of the U. S. there are five major Asian populations in the US: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Filipino and Southeast Asian. The AAPIs have origins in at least 29 Asian countries and 20 Pacific Islander countries. There are as many languages, cultures and religions found in this population.  More than 100 different languages spoken and just as many cultures and religions found in this population. The largest group of Asians is Chinese followed by Filipinos. Many Asians came to the U. S. seeking both a better life and employment.

Although Asian groups are very diverse in terms of culture, language, etiquette and rules for interaction, a common thread of Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist thought links their health care beliefs and practices and are derived from Chinese tradition.  When planning for or providing care to the Pacific Islanders, the APN should utilize a Chinese frame of reference because less is known about this group.

The term Native American refers to the indigenous people of North, South, and Central American and includes American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) (Kosoko-Laski et al, 2009). About 5.2 million people identify as being American Indian or Alaska natives. This American Indian population is confined to 26 states in the US with most in the western part of the country.  The largest AI populations by tribes are Cherokee, Navajo, Choctaw, Mexican American Indian, Chippewa, Sioux, Apache, Blackfeet, Cree, and Iroquois.   The largest AN population are Yup’ik, Inupiat, Tlingit-Haida, Alaskan Athabascan, and Aleut and Tsimshian.

This population is highly diverse with 573 federally recognized tribes and several others not federally recognized.  Federally recognized tribes are provided health and education assistance from the Indian Health Service, US Department of Health and Human Services.   Depending on their geographical location, cultural practices, and language, life situations differ considerably.

Learning objectives for the module:

At the end of this module, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss health and illness behaviors of Asians/Pacific Islanders
  2. Identify current healthcare problems of Asians/Pacific Islanders
  3. Describe cultural barriers to health care for the Native American
  4. Discuss health disparities of the Native American population

Instructions

Download the Johns Hopkins Research Evidence Appraisal Tool (Links to an external site.) and the Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool (Links to an external site.) located in the Student Resource Center under “Project & Practicum Resources.”

As you incorporate published research study findings into your own writing, you aim for synthesis of the material. Before learning how to write a synthesis, it is important to define this term. At its most basic level, a synthesis involves combining two or more summaries. Synthesis writing is more difficult than it might first appear because this combining must be done in a meaningful way.

A synthesis requires critical reading and thinking in order to compare different material, highlighting similarities, differences, and connections. When a practice scholar synthesizes successfully, they present new ideas based on interpretations of published research evidence. Conceptually, it can be helpful to think about synthesis existing at both the local (or paragraph) level and the global (or paper) level.

Synthesis is all about collecting information from different sources and putting it together as one content.
