Objective: To critically replicate you’re thoughtful of the readings and your competence to rub on them to your Health care ethics. 

ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES (10%):

Students will judgmentally appraise the readings from Chapter 1 on your textbook. This assignment is intended to help you assessment, examination, and spread over the readings to your healthcare ethics as well as become the foundation for all of your remaining assignments.

You need to read the article (in the additional weekly reading resources localize in the Syllabus and also in the Lectures link) assigned for week 1 and develop a 2-3-page paper reflecting your appreciative and ability to apply the readings to your ethics. Each paper must be typewritten with 12-point font and double-spaced with standard margins. Follow APA format 7th Edition, when referring to the selected articles and include a reference page.

EACH PAPER SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Introduction (25%) Provide a short-lived summary of the undertone (not a description) of each Chapter and articles you read, in your own words.

2. Your Critique (50%)

What is your response to the content of the articles?

What did you absorb about the Types of Ethics? Mention and explain two examples where you can apply them.

What did you obtain about the key features of the natural law?

What is Deontology Theory and its principles? Apply them your future carrier. 

Mention and describe all the principle of ethics and mention example of them that apply to your professional life. 

3. Conclusion (15%)

Fleetingly recapitulate your thoughts & postulation to your analysis of the articles and Chapter you read.  How did these articles and Chapters impact your thoughts about the principles of ethics?

Evaluation will be based on how clearly you respond to the above, in particular:

a) The clarity with which you critique the articles;

b) The depth, scope, and association of your paper; and,

c) Your conclusions, including a description of the impact of these articles and Chapters on any Health Care Setting.

Nurses are responsible for their actions in civil, criminal and contract law (Chesterton, Tetley, & Cox, 2020). Professional accountability in nursing involves the nurses being accountable to the employer, the patient receiving treatment and a union or board. Accountability in nursing has a direct link with the standard of care offered, the safety of patients and decision making (Rubio-Navarro, Garcia-Capilla, & MJ, 2019). It is important to ensure that nurses are responsible for their actions given the risk at hand that is the possibility of losing patients as a result of the negligence of the practitioner or escalating the condition of the patient. This can be improved through ensuring that the nurses are familiar with the standards of practice and also ensuring that those standards are concise and clear in order for the nurses to comprehend what is expected of them. A nurse would demonstrate accountability in evidence-based practice by ensuring that they conduct research on how medication or treatment would impact on the well-being of the patient and ensuring that their knowledge in the medical field is up to date. In clinical expertise, professional accountability encompasses seeking the patient’s consent and regularly checking on the patient’s response to treatment. In the nursing process a nurse would be required to adopt safe practices.

Please view the you-tube videos on Week 2 moodle page-they cover various topics about nursing and can be included in this discussion board.  Some include some television show clips that have nurses and also interviews with people on the street about what nursing is.  Hopefully this will give you all a better picture of how the public views nursing. There is also a video about the struggles of minority students and nursing.   My hope, is that by the end of this course you will be a strong voice for nursing, with the goal of sharing who nurses are, and why we do what we do!

The questions below are discussion starters and you do not have to answer all of them-choose what interests you to discuss!  Remember, your initial post can be 300-500 words, basically about 1-2 paragraphs.

What do you think nursing is?  What has most influenced how you see nursing?  How do you react to shows that have nurses on them?  How do you think this can affect the view of nursing that the general public will have?  Have you had family or friends question why you would want to become a nurse?  Have you had someone tell you to become a doctor instead?  What can we as nurses and nursing students do to positively or negatively affect the image of nursing?
