How Is The Nursing Process Used In Developing Health Education? Describe A Contemporary Issue, Local Or Global, That A Family May Experience Today – 2025

  5 DQ 1

Health education as define by Falkner as “any combination of learning experiences design to help individuals and community improving their life health by increasing their knowledge and influencing their attitudes (WHO cited by Falkner, 2018). Based on this perspective the nurse educator has open doors to many ways of teaching the patient to make them understand the material in discussion. Therefore, the nursing process is one of the core nursing tools to help the patient out. Thus, the nursing process is used is also used the way as usual by assessing the patient first, formulating the nursing diagnosis related to the patient needs to be educated then elaborating a plan of action followed by the actual education regarding the patient needs.

Strategic Planning – 2025

Assessment Instructions: Strategic Planning

  • Develop a 5-10 year strategic plan for achieving specific health care quality and safety improvements, based on the analysis you completed in Assessment 1. Use either an AI approach or your SWOT analysis and a chosen strategic planning model.
    Introduction
Evaluation of strategic choices is important. The methods for selecting strategic alternatives help leaders organize significant issues to support decision making. However, it is important that the techniques do not make the decision. Rather, leaders should use the techniques to reveal the inherent situation and to organize their thought processes. This assessment provides you with an opportunity to evaluate and apply some of the techniques for successful strategy development and implementation.
Note: You will use your care setting environmental analysis as the basis for developing your strategic plan in this assessment.
    Preparation
The feedback you received on your care setting environmental analysis has been positive. Consequently, you have been asked to select one of the potential improvement projects you noted in your analysis and create a full, 5–10-year strategic plan to achieve the desired quality and safety improvement outcomes. You will develop your strategic plan, using either an AI approach (addressing the design stage), or by building on your SWOT analysis and applying a strategic planning model of your choice.
How you structure your plan should be based on whether you are taking an appreciative inquiry approach or using a specific strategic planning model. Regardless of the approach you choose, the requester of the plan has asked that you address the key points outlined below in the strategic plan requirements. In addition, your plan should be 5–8 pages in length.
Note: Remember, you can submit all, or a portion, of your draft plan to Smarthinking for feedback before you submit the final version for this assessment. However, be mindful of the turnaround time for receiving feedback, if you plan on using this free service.
As you prepare to complete this assessment, you may want to think about other related issues to deepen your understanding or broaden your viewpoint. You are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of your professional community. Note that these questions are for your own development and exploration and do not need to be completed or submitted as part of your assessment.
Strategic planning models aid in setting goals, establishing time frames, and forging a path toward achieving those goals. Consider the strategic planning models you are familiar with:
    • Which model would you choose to create goals and outcomes that could address the area of concern you identified in your Assessment 1 SWOT analysis?
    • Why is this model the best choice among alternatives?
    • How does goal setting through appreciative inquiry provocative propositions differ from goal setting in the strategic planning model you selected?
    • Additional Requirements
Note: The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide, so at a minimum, be sure to address each point. In addition, you are encouraged to review the performance level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed.
Writing, Supporting Evidence, and APA Style
    • Write clearly, with professionalism and respect for stakeholders and colleagues.
    • Integrate relevant sources of evidence to support your assertions.
      • Cite at least 3–5 sources of scholarly or professional evidence.
    • Format your document using APA style. Use the APA Style Paper Tutorial [DOCX]. Be sure to include:
      • A title page and reference page. An abstract is not required.
      • A running head on all pages.
      • Appropriate section headings.
      • Properly formatted citations and references.
    • Proofread your writing to minimize errors that could distract readers and make it more difficult to focus on the substance of your analysis.
    • Strategic Plan
    • Develop strategic goal statements and outcomes that reflect specific quality and safety improvements for your care setting. You should have at least one short-term goal (just-in-time to one year) and one long-term goal (five years or longer).
      • Determine realistic timelines for achieving your goals.
      • Explain how your short-term goals support your long-term goals.
    • Note: For plans based on an AI approach, the goal statements and outcomes are provocative propositions that may be refinements of the positive, yet attainable, goals that you proposed during the dream phase of your inquiry. For plans based on a SWOT analysis, the goal statements and outcomes are specific, measurable, and applicable to the area of concern in your analysis for which you proposed pursuing improvements.
    • Justify the relevance of your proposed strategic goals and outcomes in relation to the mission, vision, and values of your care setting.
    • Analyze the extent to which your strategic goals and outcomes, and your approach to achieving them, address:
      • The ethical environment.
      • The cultural environment.
      • The use of technology.
      • Applicable health care policies, laws, and regulations.
    • Explain, in general, how you will use relevant leadership and health care theories to help achieve your proposed strategic goals and outcomes.
      • Consider whether different theories are more applicable to the short-term or long-term goals of your strategic plan.
    • Evaluate the leadership qualities and skills that are most important to successfully implementing your proposed plan and sustaining strategic direction.
      • Identify those leadership qualities and skills that are essential to achieving your goals and outcomes and sustaining strategic direction.
      • Identify those leadership qualities and skills that will have the greatest effect on the success of your plan.

      • Justify the relevance of proposed strategic goals and outcomes in relation to the mission, vision, and values of a care setting.
    • Competency 3: Apply cultural, ethical, and regulatory considerations to leadership decision making.
      • Analyze the extent to which strategic goals and outcomes address the use of technology and the ethical, cultural, and regulatory environments.

1.- Gloria:    Before we get into what activities are involved in strategic management let’s first discuss what it does. Strategic management deals with finding relationships in order to secure that various sector within the company goal to meet what is required by the company. It creates room for objectives, researching the environment where competition is coming from, looking for data within the inside of the organization strategies of evaluation, making sure management gives way for approaches going around the organization at hand. Strategic management uses both short-term and long-term actions: before beginning short term activities a written list of long term activities should be made available so that you can located where the position of the market is. Make a choice as to where your place is, and what will the futuristic vision of the company be in years to come. Give a written history once again of long term goals which offer assistance for you to spot the mission. Carrying out these steps is a vital resource in reaching all purposes with the company as well as getting specified positions in market at an set  time frame. Employees feedback should be a valuable tool in before even writing long term goal and gives clarity to the direction of the vision for the company. Understanding is provided by the manager in charge of what steps will be taken to bring goal formed to come to life. Short term activities are connected to long term activities and have a set time frame as well as being precise and within the bonds of the organization. It give detailed information on how to carryout goals that are long term. Management once again has this responsibility to look after the ins and outs when appointing what goals happen when or to whom it is given to. When business check up on goals that where set and discover such goals have be carried out from different sectors and single persons. If a move occurred within  in the business you have to be willing to work with them as to adjust activities in the short term nature. If and when these goal don’t make the standards of achievement you may want to change around workers from one department to the next and in other functions that give more successful outcomes.

strategic management is a guide that connects to functions with this plan that produce goals set in order. Offers direction in conversations when making choices centered on resources within the cost budget that accomplish standards set which boosts effectiveness in operations. Allows you to look in the future to better prepare for unforeseen risk. When a facility implements strategic management they can prevent high risk situations before they happen, this enables them to adhere to changing trends happening in the market and giving them added advantage from their competition. It defines what the direction is and assist to create real time objectives and goals that connect to the vision and mission charted for it.

2.- Adrienne :            Strategic management includes both long-term and short-term activities as it happens on an ongoing basis. When a health care facility uses strategic management, this allows them to sustain their operations with long term in mind by completing short term goals with all levels of management and employees involved. Strategic management allows the management team to create the vision, mission, and the processes of the business. As the facility environment changes, the focus can be adjusted to help accomplish the strategic goals (Contributor, 2020). By following the business plan, the set deadlines and milestones will be completed as planned while meeting your long-term strategic goals. Strategic management starts with planning the activities for the future now and making sure all departments are aligned with the same plan for success of the whole business.

Strategic management is important to the future of a health care facility as you are essentially managing every single area of the facility with the future in mind and doing the absolute best you can in all areas (Contributor, 2020). With the constant changes taking place in the health care industry today, it is wise to have an ongoing plan that will put together the strategy and mission of the facility into play. The standard strategic plan is a three-to-five-year plan with scheduled reviews taking place to ensure the progress being made is correct and changes made as the health industry grows are being added. A strategic management plan is typically made up of these four different areas:

  1. Analysis and assessment – allows the facility to review their current and internal environment assessment.
  2. Strategy formulation – the development of the strategic plan.
  3. Strategy execution – the translation of the plan into a plan of action.
  4. Evaluation – completing the elevations of the performance that has been completed.

By continuously planning, analyzing, and monitoring that all areas are meeting their projected goals, this will ensure the success of the facility in the future (The SHSMD Team, 2017). Strategic management has also provided many benefits to the health care industries as it has allowed them to be nimble, focused on performance, future results and more engaged than ever before.

Case study #1

Mrs. Franklin-Jones was admitted from the Emergency Room to Cardiac Intensive Care one week ago with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. She has recovered as expected and is moving to the cardiac step down unit today. She is talking with Nurse Julie Hernandez, as she gets settled in her new room, “I was really surprised when I got that bad pain in my chest! I knew I had high pressure but I just didn’t think it was that bad. I try to take my medicine like they told me to in the clinic but sometimes I forget. I guess that I need to study those papers they gave me about what foods I should eat and not eat. I better take care of myself! Momma had bad pressure and it killed her! Who knows—I may even have to learn to cook different than I was taught in Jamaica! I may have to let Tomas do the cooking. He’s got more time at home now than I do since he lost his job. There isn’t too much time between my shifts at the school cafeteria and my new housecleaning job. You know my sister is coming up from Jamaica to see me. I think she is bringing me some bush tea. That’ll set me right!”

  • Using Leininger’s Culture Care Model, what factors in the story shared by Mrs. Franklin-Jones should be considered by Nurse Hernandez when planning for the patient’s discharge?
  • Why is the theory of Culture Care Diversity important in the delivery of nursing care for all patients?
  • Using Leininger’s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality, develop a plan of care for Mrs. Franklin-Jones.
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Leininger’s Theory.

Case Study #2

Claude Jean-Baptiste is recovering from post-hip replacement surgery and has been transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute adjacent to the hospital. When he enters the unit, he sees welcoming signs written in several languages including his own, Creole. Since there are no nurses on that shift that speak Creole, they use a language line to ask for translation services. During this initial nursing assessment, the translator informs Mr. Jean-Baptiste that the nurses invite him to have a relative at his side so that they can be sure to understand and meet his needs. He is asked about Haitian customs and beliefs that they might honor. Mr. Jean-Baptiste is encouraged to bring food and spiritual care items, and to share the warmth of his culture with the nursing staff.

  • Discuss assumptions of the Transpersonal Caring relationship. What is the nurse’s role?
  • How is love, as defined by Watson, evident in this caring moment?
  • How can the nurse creatively use self to create a healing environment?
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Watson’s Theory.
