For this week’s assignment respond to one of the following options, and include Option 1, 2, or 3 as part of your heading.

Option 1: The first option is to name and describe in detail a key specific and recent healthcare technology. What are at least two key moral problems this technology creates? What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your approach to what an utilitarian and ethical egoist would say (each independently).

Option 2: In the second option, name and describe in detail a key specific and recent social technology. What are at least two key moral problems this technology creates? What are the proper moral guidelines for dealing with it in your view? Compare your moral approach to what an utilitarian and social contract ethicist would say (each independently).

Option 3: John Doe, Patient One, is in late stage of kidney disease. If he does not receive a new kidney, then he is predicted to die within a week. Doe is 45, single, and has no children. Doctors theorize that Doe damaged his kidney by not following a low-salt diet. Doe inherited one million dollars and is known for giving money to charity. Without a transplant, he will probably be forced to spend all his money searching for a kidney outside of the usual legal channels.  Patient Two is Jane Doe (no relation to John). Patient Two is a mother of two children (ages 21 and 24). She is divorced and 55 years old. She developed kidney problems due to eating a high-fat and high-sugar diet. If she does not receive a kidney within one month, doctors believe she will die.  Patient Three is an orphan. This orphan lives in a state facility. She was born with a genetic condition that constantly damages her kidney. The only known approach to her condition is to provide her with a kidney transplant every so often. She is 11 and has already undergone two kidney transplants. She will perish in two months if she does not receive another transplant. 

All three patients are at the same hospital. The hospital only has one kidney to give out. The orphan’s birth parents were known to be of a religion that is opposed to organ donation. The other patients come from religions that do not oppose organ donation. Who should get the kidney?  Why should that candidate receive it over the others? Devise a course of social action and a solution for this case by using the ethics of egoism and then utilitarianism to a key moral conflict involving health care in this case. Appraise the interests of diverse populations (in terms  of ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.) and how they relate to the case.

  When replying to your peers, think about the ethical considerations related to research or working with a vulnerable population. Although the vulnerable share characteristics making them susceptible to health concerns, they remain unique. In the initial post, everyone discussed both strengths and weaknesses inherent to a specific vulnerable population. What steps would you recommend to ensure that your peer’s vulnerable group is ethically protected throughout the research as well as the participation element of a community-based participatory research project; that is, shelter services, food banks, case management, support groups, etc.?  utilizing at least two scholarly references per peer post. APA format. Please respond to the write up below in just like 8 sentences:

 The population I chose in week 1 is the mentally ill population. “She described health as an asset, as she stressed focusing on individual strengths rather than problems.” (Pender, Murdaugh, & Parsons, 2015) Some strengths or assets of the mentally ill population include resilience and ego-resilience. “Resiliency resources can be a valuable mechanism for maintaining the well-being and understanding differential resistance to, and recovery from ill-health later in life.” (Zargham-Boroughjeni, Maghsoudi, & Oreyzi, 2015) The mentally ill population has a lot of health problems. When thinking of health problems related to mentally ill population, chronic disease comes to mind. A lot of patients with mental illness with have chronic medical conditions either untreated or poorly managed due to their mental state. They also often acquire new diseases as their mental illness progresses. When mental illness is treated and stable, many times the medical conditions are easier to maintain and stabilize. Health-related lifestyle strengths definition is like health assets when reading the definitions. The mentally ill are generally resilient and characterize ego-resilience. Key health-related beliefs vary when it comes to mentally ill population. Depending on their severity of disease state, and their stability of disease, many can have different beliefs when related to health. Often, they are skeptical of receiving care and avoidant. Health behaviors that put the mentally ill at risk are homelessness, drug/alcohol abuse, avoiding healthcare, and not getting their mental illness treated. The mentally ill population generally have high risk lifestyle behaviors. Changes that could improve the mentally ill populations quality of life, is receiving psychiatric care and begin treatment for their mental illness if deemed appropriate by provider. Also, accessing resources in the community to decrease high risk behaviors and help stabilize their condition.
When implementing a community-based participatory research health promotion project within the mentally ill population, there will be some pros and cons. The goal of this type of project is to address the need for improved transdisciplinary and intervention research methods and approaches, and to strengthen the science of community engagement in addressing health disparities in socially disadvantaged population groups (Castille, 2018). Some pros of doing this project would be the ability to see where there are gaps in providing services and care for the mentally ill population. Also, the ability to determine where community resources should be allocated to. It would be a great way to determine what they mentally ill feel they need more of in resources in the community. Cons of this project would be the reliability of information you may receive from some of the mentally ill population. They are generally poor historians and may not paint a clear picture of their day to day life. Getting information from a local mental health facility, homeless shelters, and other current community resources that the mentally ill utilize would be beneficial as well as gaining information from the mentally ill themselves.

Review the following case study and discuss the questions that follow. 

CC is a previously healthy 27-year-old man admitted to the critical care unit after an accident in which he was hit by a car and dragged along the pavement for nearly 100 feet. He suffered a frontal contusion, fractured clavicle and ribs, and extensive abrasions on his arms, legs, side, back, and buttocks. On admission, he was tachycardic, hypotensive, unresponsive, and ventilating poorly. He was placed on a mechanical ventilator and given IV fluids for the treatment of his shock. CC responded well to fluids, with an increase in blood pressure and an improvement in urine output.

1. Based on his case history and responsiveness to fluid therapy, what type of shock was CC experiencing?
2. What other clinical findings would be helpful in confirming the type of shock? Why?
3. Because of his many open wounds and invasive lines, CC is at risk for sepsis and septic shock. What clinical findings would suggest that this complication has developed?
4. What is the link between sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS)?

Topic: Implementing Change With an Interprofessional Approach Presentation

As an advanced registered nurse, you will serve as a leader within your organization. Part of this role will entail being a change agent, and spurring positive change on behalf of patients, colleagues, and the industry.

Consider a situation you experienced previously where change did not go as planned in your health care organization. Create a 10-15-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you will assess the situation and the steps that should have been taken to successfully implement change.

1. Describe the background of the situation, including the rationale for and goal(s) of the change.
2. Identify the key interprofessional stakeholders (both internal and external) that should be involved in change efforts.
3. Discuss an appropriate change theory or model that could be used to achieve results.
4. Outline how you would initiate the change.
5. Describe the impact to the organization if the change initiative is unsuccessful again, and potential steps the      interprofessional team could take if the change is unsuccessful.

Make sure to include slide notes of 100-250 words for each slide.

You are required to cite five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.
