TASK

Post your initial response to one of the two topics below.

Topic 1

Watch at least 60 minutes of TV, focusing on the depiction of older adults. Analyze and discuss TV programming in the context of at least two of the following:

• Portrayal of elderly characters
• Intergenerational themes
• Conflict in relation to the older population
• Aging stereotypes or myths
• Cultural diversity in relation to quality of care

Topic 2

Discuss your own philosophy of aging.

• When do you think a person becomes elderly?
• What do you think of older people?
• Are they active, senile, debilitated, etc.?
• Provide a description of an elderly person that you know.

They define interprofessional collaboration as when multiple health workers from different professional backgrounds work together with patients, families, caregivers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care. (Vega & Bernard, 2016, para. 4). Different care providers whether it be doctors, social workers, dieticians, nurses, chaplains, pharmacists, nursing assistance, etc., all coming together and communicate the care of a patient holistically for their wellbeing and safety. The interprofessional collaboration will help reduce errors, provide high-quality care, and increase safety only if all the above work together.

For example, if a physician orders a drug for a child and mistakenly used dosage for an adult and faxed to the pharmacy. The pharmacist sees the order, then calls the nurse to confirm if the order is for an adult or a pediatric. The nurse let the pharmacist know it mistakenly written and called the doctor to clarify the order. Just imagine if there was no interprofessional collaboration communication among health care workers what that drug should have done to that child. This child’s life saved because the pharmacist caught the error and acted fast by letting the nurse know, who then called the physician to clarify the order.

The current trend that will require more, or change the nature of, interprofessional collaboration is the shortages of drugs in America. An example of a drug short in the market is norepinephrine. This drug used to treat septic shock continues to plague health care providers and patients, particularly for generic injectable medications, and shortages take an immense toll on patients and the health care system (DeVore, 2020). Knowing that this drug saves a life, collaboration with the manufacturers, the FDA, and other drug companies are essential to make this mediation available to people and at a low cost.

dentify a quality improvement opportunity in your organization or practice. In a 1,250-1,500 word paper, describe the problem or issue and propose a quality improvement initiative based on evidence-based practice. Apply “The Road to Evidence-Based Practice” process, illustrated in Chapter 4 of your textbook, to create your proposal.

Include the following:

1. Provide an overview of the problem and the setting in which the problem or issue occurs.
2. Explain why a quality improvement initiative is needed in this area and the expected outcome.
3. Discuss how the results of previous research demonstrate support for the quality improvement initiative and its projected outcomes. Include a minimum of three peer-reviewed sources published within the last 5 years, not included in the course materials or textbook, that establish evidence in support of the quality improvement proposed.
4. Discuss steps necessary to implement the quality improvement initiative. Provide evidence and rationale to support your answer.
5. Explain how the quality improvement initiative will be evaluated to determine whether there was improvement.
6. Support your explanation by identifying the variables, hypothesis test, and statistical test that you would need to prove that the quality improvement initiative succeeded.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. 

Assignment #2: Infographic: Prison Population (individual or group activity)  

Instructions:  

o In preparation for this assignment, students should explore websites and scholarly sources that discuss characteristics of, and health issues related to, the prison population. In addition, students should learn about developing an infographic, which is a visual image such as a chart or diagram that represents data and information.

o Students should create an infographic (visual representation) that depicts demographics, characteristics, and common health issues of the prison population. The infographic should address factors such as racial/ethnic mix, gender, age, chronic health conditions, mental health conditions, addictions, and communicable disease. Students should include citations within the infographic.

o Students should upload the infographic document in the provided DROP BOX.

Critical thinking activities.

The book being use is, Nursing theory and their work by Martha Raile Alligood pages 304 and 305 see attachment.

Find a comfortable space in which to pause, recall, and reflect. Close your eyes and dwell upon the meanings and the caring that took place within the nursing situation; then fully engage in the moment and in the meanings that emerge as you consider these questions:

1. How is the student nurse expressing caring in her responses to calls for nursing from Diane? From her father? Describe the calls for caring perceived by the student nurse.

2. How is the father expressing his caring in the nursing situation?

3. Place yourself in the shoes of the nurse, and describe the mutuality of living and growing in caring. What difference did caring nursing make in this nursing situation?

4. Describe the nurturing of the nurse mentor. What calls for nursing did she perceive from the student nurse?

5. Record your own story of caring in a journal, and reflect on your intention in that nursing situation. Review the story from time to time to see how you have grown in your caring.

Feel free to make the answer question 5 from a perspective of a psychiatric nurse or substance abuse nurse.
