  Discussion 01.2: Introductions

Welcome to the course! This is your chance to introduce yourself and to get better acquainted with your classmates.  First, please post a paragraph introducing yourself to the class. Feel free to share whatever information you wish about you and your family, job, interests, etc. But please also include the following (in complete sentences and paragraphs):    

Hello, class, my name is Curtis Hill; I go by Curt. I lived in Columbus, Georgia, I have two boys, one is 27, and the other one is 20 is a Junior at Savannah State, my goal is to be successful in Learning about Management and how it works. My personal goals I want to achieve is a Degree in Health Care Management, and also, I wish to strengthen my grammar and personal skills.

1.Describe your career goals and how what you learn in this class might fit into those goals.

2.Provide a summary of your experiences (if any) working in the health care or legal fields.

3.Looking through your textbook, find at least one topic that interests you and which you look forward to learning more about. Explain why it caught your attention.

Write an analysis, 4–5 pages in length, of the gap between current and desired performance, with respect to the provision of safe, high-quality patient care.

As a nurse leader, you must be able to assess your organization’s ability to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. In so doing, you may be required to perform a gap analysis of a quality or safety issue as the first step in improving outcomes. Failure to meet benchmarks for safe and effective patient care can have reimbursement, regulatory, and legal consequences.

This assessment provides an opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to successfully implement changes that improve patient outcomes by:

• Evaluating the current culture of an organization.
• Performing an outcomes gap analysis.
• Determining what changes are needed to bridge the gap.
• Examining current thinking on this topic contained in the literature.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

• Competency 1: Analyze quality and safety outcomes from an administrative and systems perspective. 
  • Identify a systemic problem in an organization related to adverse quality and safety outcomes.
  • Propose specific practice changes within an organization that will improve quality and safety outcomes and bridge the gap between current and desired performance.

• Competency 2: Determine how outcome measures promote quality and safety processes within an organization 
  • Determine how proposed practice changes will foster a culture of quality and safety.
• Competency 3: Determine how specific organizational functions, policies, processes, procedures, norms, and behaviors can be used to build reliable and high-performing organizations.

 1. You Have learned about health information technology (HIT) in this chapter. Give a few examples for the application of HIT in the clinical practice. Explain the main barriers of using HIT in the healthcare system. 

Essay: Write a 1000-1800 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions.
