Please respond to the following questions based upon these course objectives:

1.    Integrate nursing and related sciences into the delivery of advanced nursing care to diverse populations. (AACNI.1)

2.    Incorporate current and emerging genetic/genomic evidence in providing advanced nursing care to individuals, families, and communities while accounting for patient values and clinical judgment. (AACN I.2)

3.    Compare normal anatomy and physiology to alterations in function and regulation of body organs and systems in response to stressors. (AACN I.1)

Please answer the following questions with supporting examples and full explanations.

1.    For each of the learning objectives, provide an analysis of how the course supported each objective.

2.    Explain how the material learned in this course, based upon the objectives, will be applicable to professional application.

Provide evidence (citations and references) to support your statements and opinions. Responses to these questions are due by Tuesday at midnight.

All references and citations should in APA format.

 In this assignment, you will create a concept map with stress as the center and potential affected body systems and the pathophysiologic disease processes occurring in that body system as a result of the stressor(s) to create the spokes of the concept map.

Step 1 Select the life stage of the patient that will be represented by the concept map.
Choose from the following age groups:

• Child (3–12)
• Adolescent (13–19)
• Young Adult (20–39)
• Adult (40–64)
• Mature Adult (65+

 Step 3 Using the concept map format:

• Describe the response to a stressor and the meaning that the stressor has for an individual in an age group of your choosing.
• Depict how genetics, past experiences, conditioning, and cultural influences affect perception of stress and stressors in your selected age group?
• Indicate how stressors may be external or internal for the age group you have selected.
• Describe how individuals may be more vulnerable to the effects of stressors at certain times.

 

Examine changes introduced to reform or restructure the U.S. health care delivery system. In a 1,000-1,250 word paper, discuss action taken for reform and restructuring and the role of the nurse within this changing environment.

Include the following:

1. Outline a current or emerging health care law or federal regulation introduced to reform or restructure some aspect of the health care delivery system. Describe the effect of this on nursing practice and the nurse’s role and responsibility.
2. Discuss how quality measures and pay for performance affect patient outcomes. Explain how these affect nursing practice and describe the expectations and responsibilities of the nursing role in these situations.
3. Discuss professional nursing leadership and management roles that have arisen and how they are important in responding to emerging trends and in the promotion of patient safety and quality care in diverse health care settings.
4. Research emerging trends. Predict two ways in which the practice of nursing and nursing roles will grow or transform within the next five years to respond to upcoming trends or predicted issues in health care.

You are required to cite to a minimum of three sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and relevant to nursing practice.  

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

TOPIC: PATIENTFAMILY-CENTERED CARE

• First review the group project problem and title.
• Use keywords from your problem for your lookup inquiry. i.e. infection control, nurse, retention, etc. 
• Use EBP articles no more than 5 years old. 
• Make sure you put your name at the top and include your article citation in 7th ed. APA format of your assignment – see exemplar.

• Do not give research terms on your assignment i.e. this is a cross-sectional study or has validity unless you’re ready to explain how this will help you solve your problem. These terms are used so that you know if an article is valid and reliable. OK, so now that you found this, your job is to find out how this project will help you solve your problem. 
  • The paper is set up to determine the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the project itself. 
  • By answering these questions, you will help guide and collaborate with your peers with constructive feedback on how to solve your problem collectively as a team.
    • Strength – Example: Did they have the support of the peers, manager, CEO. Did this project improve patient satisfaction, quality, efficiency? Usually found in the literature review and results.
    • Weakness – Example: This is the opposite. Why was this plan weak: Not enough education, no support, not enough money because of the expense? Usually found in the problem of the literature review, results, and limitations.
    • Opportunity – Example: If there wasn’t enough education, is this an opportunity? A better survey or tool? Usually found in results or limitations and future implications.
    • Threat – Example: Increased infection, possible death, etc. Usually found in the literature review. 
  • It is your job to know your article and have the ability to articulate what your article is about with your peers and with your instructor. 
  • During the virtual class, you may be asked to elaborate on your article. So know your article!
